Can this opener be opened on a proximity/motion sensor or can it be it be set to open and stay open until set to closed by a switch?

Yes, the door opener can open on PIR sensor, you can find it on following listing:https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075FQF8BD?ref=myi_title_dp Also you can set it to stay open until set to close by a switch

Do you need an electrified lever? How does the door opener work if the lever is still in the horizontal position latched?

I needed to remove the catch in order for the opener to work, the opener holds the door closed so the catch isn’t required. I believe there was an electronic catch optional mentioned in the units instruction.

Please explain- if used on an exterior door, does this replace the function of a door knob that locks?

We suggest using our electric lock together with the automatic swing door opener, then can not manually open door after knob lock is closed, you can order the complete unit on the listing:https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08R88699S?ref=myi_title_dp

Are the handicap push switches wireless?

Yes. They are wireless. The box comes with options to do it both ways.
