If you want to get slightly better AI transcriptions, then use the highest .wav setting and the 'Lecture' mode. That said, my numerous experiments with this machine have not yet led me to figure out how the transcriptions might be editted, although I suspect that I will eventually discover they are saved as .txt files that can be editted after download. My overall early impression of the machine is that it produces surprisingly good audio output, and has numerous possible audio uses; including live music demo recordings, poetry and recordings from the natural world. Oh, and good old-fashioned dictation. It is quite a heavy, but compact unit worth a fairly intuitive GUI and adequate usage notes and brief online tips. The weight indicates to me that the speaker and mono/stereo microphones are of reasonable construction quality. Attractive overall design with a colourful touch screen GUI. Also, ordinary operation buttons. I look forward to doing something creative with this unit, but it is a fairly sophisticated gadget; which means that there is quite a lot to learn about it in the longer term. Perhaps not ideal for absolute audio beginners, but there is a simpler recording shortcut, using the REC button if you are in a hurry to capture interesting voices and sounds. The headphone jack is fine, but the output to my Bluetooth amplifier was superb. I have still got a few things to learn about USB data transfer and the SD card. USB charging from solar panels is extremely quick.

Great item, can set the date and times to start recordings, lock the screen to prevent stopping the recording which was an issue with a previous make I had which stopped recording when I really needed it. The battery is good and lasts a while and even better that you can set recording to record voices when talking, many different record functions like in pocket, can set a passcode to ensure security of recordings via a 6 digit passcode. I wish I had saved money and bought this one first.

When I first tried to use this, the screen immediately stopped working, though I could tell it was on and recording due to the backlight and recording light still being on. Unfortunately, the device requires input on the touchscreen to power it on or off, or even to extract files despite having physical buttons, so something of a design flaw too. I contacted the manufacturer and they were very helpful and sent a replacement straight out to me. This one works, and I'm generally happy with it as a portable recorder. The microphones are good, speaker sound is decent, and it's pretty easy to use. The main issue comes down to it's main selling point, the offline transcription. I have a pretty clear voice and a kind of bog standard southern English accent, so typically transcription software is able to get what I say easily. Despite this, the transcription seems to make so many mistakes that while it ranges from barely discernable to outright jibberish. I've tried it on a number of other people and it seems to be quite poor regardless, so fairly disappointed. If they release a software update that improves the transcription significantly then this would be an absolute must buy for the price, since devices that transcribe without making you pay for cloud services and while also letting you keep all your data private on the device itself are rare, and the main alternative is an Innioasis R1,which is quadruple the price. Until then, it's basically going to have to be used as a standard recorder, which makes it just okay, and in that case it's going to struggle against the competition from more established brands. Fingers crossed they improve the voice recognition but I'd advise buying this device if that's the main selling point for you.

Good recorder, but transcript does not work at all and just provides a lot of nonsense containing an expletive here and there that wasn't said. Considering this it is very over priced.

Finding it very hard to operate it as I am disabled but it looks and feels very nice.

I got this for work, we communicate very critical information over radio and I wanted this as a 'black box' to cover my you know what in a 'he said, she said' situation. A friend had an older one from Walmart that didn't have a memory card but I liked the small size so I looked up the brand and found one but it wouldn't be delivered until March 8th...that's unacceptable, so I came to Amazon as I usually do anyway, and found this which is WAAAAAAY better for just a little more, and much quicker delivery (though it did come a day late). I love the touchscreen, it came with a 128gb memory card and charging cable, was completely dead on arrival but charged up quickly enough to turn it on and set it up. Full charge took about two hours. It has every function you can think of and some you didn't know you wanted or needed. The quality is great, both build quality as well as recording quality. I did buy the protective case that was recommended as a 'bundle' which is also really nice. You can use the screen only (except you need to use the physical record button or the side slide/power button to wake it up) for all functions, or you can use the physical buttons for 'old school' appeal and feel. Highly recommend. It's worth the price.

So far I am impressed by this digital voice recorder. I have been regularly using voice recorders for a long time, and I decided to upgrade my old and reliable Olympus voice recorder to get one that better integrates with my devices. It works well, I like that you can use the play/forward/reverse buttons without waking up the screen, so many options and the ability to protect it with a password. I had my Olympus for over 10 years, and was concerned that it would take me a long time to get used to this one, with a touchscreen and all, but no, it is very intuitive, and not expensive for what it is. My only complaint, is that I wish they would have included a neoprene protective sleeve like my Olympus came with, it should not be an expensive thing to include, and very useful to protect your investment. But no star lost, there is enough good about it to be well worth the purchase, hopefully it will last as long as my old one.
