It is light weight, stable and has a nice tray that I use to hold a battery to power the S30 on long nights. It is a basic tripod so you will need to have or purchase a head for this. It has a 3/8 16 standard mounting stud which is a standard size. I have noticed it vibrates enough in windy conditions to make longer exposures (20-30 seconds) problematic. But it's easy to setup, easy to move, and easy to carry. I found this a solid purchase for the money.
