Then use the scraper to scrape off the excess, then use a hairdryer on the high temperature setting, low fan setting to briefly heat up the area for five seconds, and then polish it with an old towel. You can see from the pictures that it works quite well, however wood grain has variety in colors so this is a bit of an art. Sometimes you need to blend colors. Take your time and it works well. This is a great value, as one stick of varathane, the established brand is about 8 to 9 bucks at HD, so this is a good bargain, with no difference in quality as far as I can tell.

It does get the dent filled with a natural look. If you look from 90 degrees up, the patch is almost unnoticeable. However, it doesn’t give a smooth wood feel, not the consistent shine when seen from an angle. It is definitely noticeable. I would say it is a good temporary fix, but won’t be the permanent fix. Just a disclaimer. That probably is for all these types not necessary for the product.
