A delicious alternative to maple syrup for your pancakes
This is delicious on pancakes, superior to maple syrup in my view. There is a depth to the flavour which is unique to this product, tapped from Sri Lankan kithul trees rather than the more familiar product tapped from Canadian maples. Kithul syrup is apparently a well known product in Sri Lankan cooking, but ours certainly doesn't stay around in our kitchen for long enough to be used in cooking. When I buy this syrup I am happy to know that I am supporting an important Sri Lankan traditional industry, sadly threatened by the clearing of kithul forests to make way for rubber and tea plantations. Buy it while you still can!
