will the pan adapters that fit the LXE road trip grills fit this unit?

I'm not absolutely sure. I made a mistake, thanks to Amazon's "Click-to Order" feature. I mistakenly ordered the "Road Trip 285" instead of the "LXE." I received them both , but returned the "Road Trip" model. However, when I had them here, they looked the same in size to me. except for some differences in the stand. a 3rd burner and the way the side shelves were integrated, they looked virtually the same. Hope this helps.

We have an rv with an external gas hose. can we just hook up the gas hose from our rv to our coleman grill?

We have it hooked up to a regular propane tank but the Coleman hose did not work. This is the hose we purchased that works. We have not yet hooked it up to the RV propane tank. Look at the connections and see if it would work for you. What is the measurement from the cooking surface to the lid? I like cooking whole chickens and leg of lambs so concerned if there is enough space.
