KiwiSIM 4G LTE WiFi Router with 5GB Data Card, Portable 300Mbps WiFi Router

When it first arrived, the setup up instructions were very simple. If you do end up using the sim card out of your phone, you will have to email the imei numbers on the back of the router so they can unlock it so it accepts your sim card. Great product for what I'm using it for (Im putting a tv in my car and I needed wifi) Great customer service as well as a great company in general! I can't tell you how many youtube videos I've watched rating car hotspot routers and I never saw one video mention this company. They need to be known!

I'd give 0 if I could first let me say do not buy this if you want to watch any streaming services they will all be blocked due to the sim card they give you it thinks your in a different country then the USA second the support team is awful there is no number to call and the people I finally got into a chat with left the chat almost right away without solving my many many problems. Third the data plans are ridiculous 12 for 5gb? Really?!? I maybe thought oh I get 5 gb everyday for 12 days no dead wrong you get 5 gb total for 12$ you burn through that instantly complete piece of junk wasted many hours of my time

The KiwiSim 5G portable wireless router is something I never knew I needed until I chose to try it out. Now, I wouldn't leave my home without it in my pack or briefcase. It has a lot of pros and very few cons, and for the price point, it's an absolutely excellent device for students or those who commute or travel distances. I was concerned initially about the setup, but it was so easy to get working. I had it set up so fast that I thought maybe I had missed a step, but I feel anyone can get this working within minutes of taking it out of the package. This kit comes with the router plus the antennas, an AC power cord, and the best part is it came with a starter SIM that needs no activation. You can just plug it in and turn it on, and your wireless signal is up and connected. I recommend following the instructions as it will enable you to use your own password for the admin panel and for your wireless passkey. Going through the options menu from my browser, I realized how many ways you can customize your wireless signal. You can adjust everything from port forwarding/triggers, DMZs, MAC access lists, etc. It gives excellent control over your own personal wi-fi network. You can choose to hide your SSID or share it with others by letting it broadcast. It even allows for remote admin operation. I was very impressed with the amount of customization and control this portable router was capable of. As for signal and network, I found the starter SIM that KiwiSim gives you to be excellent. It was fast (as fast as you can get with a 2.4GHz band connection) and I had zero drops and decent throughput. For me, it works just as well as if I was connected to my office's wi-fi connection. You will have a choice to continue using it after it expires or you run out of data, or you can choose to use any other SIM depending on your preference and location. The router also offers manual configuration of the SIM APN and PIN and is capable of adjusting transmission power to save on battery life. You can plug it in with the AC cord or use the small internal battery that should last you at least two to three hours without a power supply, more than enough for a commute to work or school. The KiwiSim can work on multiple networks to fit your location, so it makes travel worries much less. If you don't like using hotel or open wi-fi networks, this is a perfect fix for that. For the price point, quality of the device, amount of options, clarity and strength of signal, and overall functionality, I give five stars. I highly recommend this device as a very controllable and affordable way to provide yourself with your own portable wi-fi network.

I thought that having external antennas would give this unit better performance. I was wrong. It actually gets less signal than my phone; especially in remote areas. Works ok for email and web browsing. I would not recommend for movie streaming. I was only able to get about 2-3mbps downloads, even when I had a strong signal.

I am using the 4G router with my T-Mobile SIM card from my phone after asking to unlock the device. The router measures approximately 5 1/4 inches in height, 5 7/8 inches in width, and 1 inch in depth, though the base extends to 2 inches and the router tilts backward slightly. I had to screw in two 7-inch antennas into the unit and I can be rotate them. On the back panel, I have an Ethernet port, a USB port, a power input, and a label displaying the default Wi-Fi SSID, login password, web interface IP address, and admin credentials. The SIM card slot, hidden under a rubber flap, is on the left side. The router, after entering the unlock pin, accepted my T-Mobile SIM without any additional configuration - I got my internet access activated immediately. The web interface has several configuration categories. Under Advanced Settings, I see options for Power-save mode, Router settings, Firewall controls, Update management, USSD commands, DDNS configuration, and miscellaneous utilities labeled Others. The Router submenu allows me to adjust the LAN IP address, subnet mask, MAC address, and DHCP server settings. I disabled the DHCP server and set a static LAN IP to 192.168.1.1, then connected a Pi-hole via the Ethernet port to handle DNS and DHCP services for the network. The Firewall section includes port filtering, port mapping, port forwarding, UPnP toggles, and DMZ configuration. Update management permits manual version checks or automated update scheduling. USSD is available but I don’t use this function. Under Others, I accessed system restart/reset functions, SNTP time synchronization with customizable server entries, time zone selection, and SIM PIN management. Wi-Fi settings allow activation of primary and guest SSIDs, WPS pairing, MAC filtering, and signal range adjustment via Short, Medium, or Long Coverage presets. Connection settings has automatic or manual network selection modes, roaming options, and APN configuration, though my T-Mobile SIM required no APN configuration. The interface also permits changing the administrative login password. I use the router mainly when I don’t have broadband internet. When the power is out, the router still works through its 3000 mAh battery, though I primarily use it plugged into a wall outlet.

It excels in ease of use, portability, and network compatibility, making it a practical choice for moderate users. However, users requiring ultra-fast speeds, extended battery life, or more advanced networking features may want to consider higher-end options. Given its affordability and reliable functionality, I would rate this product 4 out of 5 stars.

It’s very difficult to use the device outside of the United States. I going to return it.
