Well, Captain Peepants had massacred the grass there. I'm not even sure what it is about old dogs' pee, but it's extra potent in killing grass. I'd tried everything--rinsing after he went, laying down hay and top soil--nothing helped. Then I gave up for a while and let him just kill it. Well, that's until rainy season came and his bare pee spot became a mud pit. I laid some of this down and it grew, no problem, no fuss. I barely remembered to keep him off it while it was growing, too.
