Review: A truly adjustable sling that got me through 6 painful weeks. A few quibbles. - The Emergency Room sent me home with a sling after I broke my shoulder, with stern warnings to keep the shoulder still. That sling was loose -- at least one size too big -- and there was no way to get in and out of it myself. So I looked for alternatives. This Ergofoam sling made me feel as though I was wrapped in bubble wrap. It kept everything _still_, so that I didn't feel that a minor jostle would cause harm. It was far easier to sleep wearing this than the fabric slings were, because it has structure of its own. Unlike less expensive slings that put pressure on my neck, this one let me move things around until I was reasonably comfortable. You -- or a caregiver -- can adjust all sorts of straps and connectors. One you have it set just-so, it's possible to get into it (say, after a shower) on your own... most of the way. You put your injured arm into its foam cozy, and then slide into the "contraption" side of things. But you still need a caregiver to help with that sliding and then to connect the connectors. (That isn't a criticism, just setting expectations. I sure didn't know what questions to ask when I got hurt and I assume you are in the same predicament.) Over time, of course, it does need to go into the wash. The foam section gets sweaty and fills up with a lot of dead skin -- especially given that I had to go out in 110-degree Arizona heat. Fortunately, it went through the washing machine on a cold setting just fine, and then air dried. (I wore the fabric sling for the day.) One annoyance is a side effect of all those adjustments. There is a lot of velcro on this doohickey, part of its adjustability. However, by the nature of my injury, I didn't need the abduction pillow. The pillow connects to the "where your arm hangs out" part with a velcro band. I could leave off the pillow, but the velcro band is scratchy. That wasn't a problem when I wore it over a shirt, but it meant I had to wear a shirt (or pajamas) to bed. If the company supplied a velcro "blank" to smooth over that rough spot, I would have had more options. You might be thinking, "Geez, how much money do I want to invest in something I will wear for only 6 weeks?" I assure you that it is worth the money to get a good sturdy, adjustable sling. You'll feel like you are being _held_, rather than hoping to remain still.
Review: Fantastic - Fits anyone of any size. Right or left arm. Adjustable in every way. Adjustment straps are covered as to not scratch de body. Arm is very supported. Incredibly satisfied with my purchase. Strongly recommend it for anyone having shoulder surgery.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A truly adjustable sling that got me through 6 painful weeks. A few quibbles.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ This sling stood up well and was comfortable for the 6 weeks required.
*by J***8 on 18 April 2025*

Used this for Extensive Rt Shoulder repair recovery for 6 weeks. Always leave the abductor pad in place around the waist to support the compromised shoulder. Worked very well with the supplied Abductor pad and used during the day and to sleep at night only removing to dress or install the ice machine . Had the sling adjusted before surgery to fit comfortably over the type of shirt to be worn after surgery. For the sling, leave the buckle closest to the body attached at all times to keep the sling and the straps from getting twisted or clipped incorrectly. Hold sling in front of body and you will have 2 loops. Place the healthy arm through the one loop that is attached to the finger end of the sling and place head and compromised arm and shoulder through the loop with the elbow end of the sling making sure the sling has the open clasp to the front/away from the body. Place thumb loop of the buckle of the sling and attach the clasp. lift arm and adjust the abductor in place then place the sling on the abductor in the proper position and push on the abductor Velcro. You will have the sling and shoulder in place and comfortable as set previously. Ball was handy for exercising right after surgery to keep the swelling down and being black, the dog did not grab it. The only reason I gave a 4 is that their is no thumb strap. I found now and when I previously separated my shoulder this is crucial. The thumb strap locks the elbow in the pocket of the sling that locks the shoulder in place. Later on you can use the thumb loop or not depending on how the shoulder feels. I found this helped some shoulder latitude with the thumb out or locked in depending on how my shoulder and muscles felt during the day and night. I fabricated a doubled loop of 1/2" cotton rope and placed this over the front clasp and this worked very well to place my thumb in and out. Straps and sling were well protected with padding and very comfortable for the 6 weeks. If the abductor is removed leave the Velcro loop attached on the clip. Place the abductor in the proper position and hold lightly with the weight of your arm. Lay the latch end over the back of a chair and that will hold it high enough that you can reach it if you rotate your body making the latch end available to your good arm/hand that can then attach the clasp and the abductor will then be in place. I would recommend this product.
