Great family game night upgrade – hilarious without crossing lines
We picked up the Cards Against Humanity: Family Edition after seeing how popular it is (and honestly, after our kids kept begging for something “like the grown-up version but not”). At $29, it’s a solid value for 600 all-new cards that are clearly written from scratch for mixed ages—no recycled tame cards from the original, just fresh, silly content about things like toilets, butt spaghetti, and awkward family friends. The game plays exactly like classic CAH: one black card with a prompt, everyone submits white cards for the funniest/most ridiculous match, judge picks a winner. It needs at least 4 players to really shine (works great with 5–10 in our experience, and scales up to larger groups), so it’s perfect for family gatherings, holidays, or game nights with cousins/aunts/uncles. What surprised us most is how genuinely funny it is for both kids (ours are 9 and 12) and adults. The humor leans heavily into gross-out, potty, and everyday absurd stuff—think boogers, farts, embarrassing parents—without any of the explicit, dark, or sexual themes from the original game. It’s rated for ages 8+, and that feels accurate: our younger one giggles nonstop, the older one tries to be clever with combos, and the adults end up laughing hardest at how ridiculous the answers get. We’ve had nights where we’re all in tears from laughing so hard. It’s family-friendly in the sense that it’s clean (PG at worst—mild words like “crap” or “boobies” show up, but nothing worse), but still has that edgy CAH vibe that keeps it from feeling like a boring kids’ game like Apples to Apples. The cards are a bit larger than standard CAH, so they don’t mix with other editions, but that’s fine since this is standalone. Highly recommend if your family enjoys wordplay, absurdity, and not taking yourselves too seriously. It’s brought us closer through shared laughs, and we’ve already played it multiple times. Worth every penny for the memories (and the inside jokes that now last months).

Ridiculously Funny
The family addition has all the obnoxious hilarity of the original, but in a more child appropriate way! My kids love it, and it’s been helpful in teaching my youngest to read. Nothing brings a family closer together like laughing together! Some cards are still a little inappropriate for younger children, but those cards go over my youngest’s head anyway.

Lots of poop jokes
Super great. Been waiting for CAH to make a family edition. Lots of poop jokes.

Worth a million bucks!
The most FUN game we have ever played as a family with kids (7 and up). This game has saved us from many a terrible evening when we are all in bad moods and about to start an all-out family war/argument or if we've just had a blow-out argument, we pull out this little card game and start playing. It's impossible not to have a good time with it. It mends hearts and families. <3 THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS GAME. It honestly may have saved our family more than once!

Age rating should be higher, but very fun game
If it didn’t say 8+ I’d give it a 5 star, i haven’t gone through all the cards but i probably went through 50 to 60ish maybe and had to pull like 8 cards so far. Some parents view things differently so maybe “nipples” “Uranus” “ grandmas panties” cards are fine with their 8 year olds, but not with mines. So because I had to pull cards out I’ll give this a 4 star. Great game outside of that

Good fun with fart jokes
I enjoy the adult version, so I decided to give this a go with the wife and kids. Honestly, it's still really funny and still pretty gross, too. Kids picked it up quickly and we've been playing it on the regular ever since.

10 YO loves it!
We play a lot of games both with our kiddo and with our adult friends. We’ve played the regular version of CAH. Our kiddo loves What Do You Meme games, so we knew he would like this. The game instructions tell parents to look through the cards to make sure none are inappropriate for YOUR family. As someone who has spent hours going through cards of other games to weed out sexual answers and just stuff that’s over my kid’s head, I can say that for our genius, but innocent 10 YO, these were fine - I didn’t pull any of them out. The only thing I’ve had to explain to him so far is the word “patriarchy”, but we also had to explain two Pokémon references to Daddy, so learning new vocabulary in a game isn’t a bad thing, lol. This game is spot on for the kids. Our son could not stop laughing at every answer card he drew, which was pretty cute. Would I want to play this version with just adults? Probably not, but it’s actually refreshing to play a version of CAH where the dirtiest answer isn’t always the winner. Most of the time I feel like I have a hand full of awesome answer cards, which NEVER happens in other games with this play mechanism. That said there are some cards that may be sus for your kids (“a dead body”, the one someone else posted about roasting a boy, a democrat, a Republican, a mayor, patriarchy, war, idiots, Ruth Bader Ginsberg, etc.), but honestly, the death things are in fairly tales, and the others are opportunities for building vocabulary. If you have to remove even 20-50 cards from this set, it’s still totally worth it!

My 8 year old son was laughing and rolling on the floor!
Never in a million years did I think that I'd be exposing my poor children to diarrhea, turds that just won't flush, and getting your ponytail stuck in your butt, but here we are, mom of 2 boys, and I hear plenty of potty jokes around my house. I guess if you can't beat them, join them? We had a lot of fun playing this, and my 5 year old even was laughing and participating (we were letting him choose the funniest card/winner in each round). The boys had so much fun, they asked to play it again the following day! We don't really play to win, or even follow the rules necessarily.. and have sat down to play for as short as 30 minutes at a time and still have fun. That being said, this is mostly inappropriate potty talk. I would NOT play this around the grandparents, nor would I expose other peoples kids to it because it would probably upset some people. You have to KNOW what you are getting yourself into, and if disgusting poop and potty jokes aren't for you, then WALK AWAY. If you are worried about ruining your innocent child, WALK AWAY. This isn't for you. I also purchase 'Not Parent Approved' at the same time to test it out. It is much cleaner IMO, and less offensive, but that being said, I don't think my kids would even get the jokes. They are more subtle, and have more social type situations in them that my boys at 8 and 5 aren't mature enough to get. Basically, it wouldn't be funny to them. But, It is much less offensive, and I could see pre-teens and girls possibly enjoying it more since it's not as crude as CAH. If you are worried about your kids being exposed to super gross/crude/potty humor, I recommend the 'Not Parent Approved' cards. There are a few poop jokes in there, but they are fewer and farther between and not as graphic. I also wouldn't hesitate to let other people's kids play "Not Parent Approved". But for our family, we enjoy Cards Against Humanity Family Edition more.

Excellent family game
My daughter had been talking about this game for ages but I wasn’t prepared to get the adult version. So I gave in and bought this version for her for Christmas thinking I would pretend to enjoy it for her benefit. I couldn’t have been more wrong in my expectation of the game. I loved it! Best game I have played for years. So easy to just start playing without any complicated rules. Three generations of us played this on Christmas Day (one in her 90’s) and we were all laughing uncontrollably. We played it again a week later and although we still enjoyed it, it wasn’t quite as funny as we had seen all the answer cards already. Still good fun though. Perhaps not great value for money at this price.

Lustig und vielseitig einsetzbar
Ich nutze das Spiel um unterschwellig Englisch zu üben mit Schüler*innen. Es ist witzig und bringt auf jeden Fall neues Vokabular bei.

Great introduction to the cards against humanity experience
This was a Christmas gift for my teenager who had heard about Cards against Humanity. It came out at Christmas lunch with extended family, participants ages ranged from 14 to 80. We played for several hours and while some people thought this version was a bit tame, we all still had a good time and quite a few laughs. It was interesting to note what one person found funniest is not what others would have picked, so some strategy came into play. Another family friendly and youth friendly game to get people off of devices and connecting and interacting with each other.
