Good Driving, Amelia Bedelia (I Can Read Level 2)

My son loves to read this book. It is great for him to practice his reading.

Charming story with puns and linguistic mix-up that are hilarious to 7/8 year olds. I had to explain some of them, but for the most part, my little emerging reader would think about it for a moment and then say triumphantly, “I get it!” So fun for the reader to feel smarter than Amelia!

You can always count on Amelia Bedelia for a funny story.

She is one of my all time favorite characters. I especially LOVE her for students who might need some encouragement about anything that makes them different. We all fall in love with Amelia Bedelia and that love and respect transfers to anyone who might do or say things a little differently than others. Not to mention how it is just plain old fun to pick up one of her books and LAUGH!

"Good Driving, Amelia Bedelia" is a story about a girl named Amelia Bedelia who wants to visit her cousin Alcolu so she can take a day off and rest on her birthday. Friends of hers, Mr. and Mrs. Rogers allow her to use their car to get to her cousin's house. But first Mr. Rogers takes Amelia out to make sure she still knows how to drive. Along the way, Amelia keeps misinterpreting Mr. Rogers's directions, like pushing on the horn of a cow instead of honking the car horn and misinterpreting a fork in the road as an actual kitchen utensil lying in the road. Soon their car gets a flat tire, but luckily a man in a towtruck happens to pass by and gives them a ride home where a party is waiting for Amelia.I think that this is a pretty good book because it is fun to see how Amelia Bedelia can mix up just about anything Mr. Rogers says to her but I didn't find anything really special about it. The book is entirely for entertainment of how Amelia totally misinterprets everything around her.

Amelia Bedelia books are fandiddlytastic books for lower elementary kids who love to laugh! This book, Good Driving, is just one of many, many, Amelia Bedelia books that are filled with humor as Amelia trips over the meaning of words and always has a different meaning of a word than it's meant to be. I dare you not to laugh with your child as you two read this together!!!

These books are fun and my grade one daughter loves resting them to me.

As an adult, I find it entertaining. However, my 4yo needs some explanation on the puns used. My 4yo enjoyed reading this book though, although not her fav, she still reaches out to this book from time to time. Recommended for older children.
