The entrances are only large enough for small birds, so sorry pigeons, no more yumming up the entire contents of the bird table in one hit! Of course, sadly the blackbirds and thrushes don't get a look in, but at least the smaller birds are finally getting some food.A word of warning, though. Obviously this will break if if is knocked down or falls to the ground. Luckily, we eventually came up with a simple, easy yet cunning plan to stop the local squirrel from knocking it off. The feeder is hung by a screw through a hole in the back. The head of the screw provided passes through the hole so you can easily lift it off and empty it – but so can the squirrel. The cunning and successful hanging method is simple. Just insert the screw at a sharp downward angle into the wall (or in our case the side of a wooden log shed). The feeder can then be removed from the screw, but not too easily, and it is not easily jiggled off by a squirrel. Result!I hung our feeder in front of the kitchen window. After a week or so, the birds found it and happily visit us even with someone sitting close to the window.
