American Architecture: A History

Good textbook
I rented this book for my American Architecture class and it is probably one of the best textbooks I've had. Easy to read and understand, interesting pictures, and very relevant architecture chosen. If you are interested in architecture or need it for a class, definitely would recommend

Great Book for Class
I rented this book for a class I am in and first let me say that I LOVE Amazon's book rental option. I hate spending all that money buying textbooks I am never going to use again, so the rental option is perfect for me. This is the 2nd book I have rented and both times it worked perfect for me. The book itself is very good, well written, has lots of photos of architecture. I have actually used it a ton in this class, so I am very happy with the rental!

Not a Dull History Book At All
I had to order this book for an online class, and as such was not really expecting much from it. This was the most interesting textbook I have ever had. I've been highlighting interesting phrases in a book for the first time in my life. The wording keeps the subject interesting, with (in my opinion at least) a humorous slant to some passages. I'll be keeping the book and rereading it once I have time.

Too much information!!!
This book is huge and heavy. It has so much information it is overwhelming. I feel like the author went overboard with his descriptions. TMI!!! Unfortunately, this is the textbook for my History of Architecture class, so I have to read it.

A good book
I got this for a class I was taking. It is very handy. I like the fact that it is full of information as well as lots of photos that go along with the text. If you are looking for a book on the history of American Architecture, this is it. It does cover the Native Americans, ad covering each of the cultures that came to this land is well organized. It is a very informative book.

School book
I needed this book for a class and I needed it fast. I was given the book fast and at a decent price. I can't complain!

Course Text...Dense, Flat, Dull, and Confusing
As an educator, art historian, and currently a student, this book is awful. It's difficult to read as concepts do not flow. Ideas are discussed, but related buildings are referenced, but not illustrated. To follow concepts, you need to have access to images (online?) to support your understanding. The language is dense without being illustrative.Considered the authoritative college text, I would not recommend this book to others.
