Flimsy
I purchased this filter to replace the cabin filter in my 2015 BMW Z4. There is a stark difference between the BMW OEM and Bosch filters. The OEM is rigid and twice the weight. The Bosch filter buckled when trying to insert it and I was not confident it seated properly. The OEM filter includes activated carbon, the Bosh does not. The OEM filter is $44 the Bosch $12

Different filter materials from OEM
Although the Bosch 6040C filter meets HEPA standards, it does not use charcoal as part of its filtering materials like the OEM design. I'm not sure how significant this will be in its performance but this might explain the price reduction. In my opinion, since I am not a smoker and my BMW Z4 is a drop-top that's frequently exposed to the great outdoors, the difference should be insignificant for the intended purpose. It's worth a try.

Always avoid gray filters
Gray filters look dirty the day you install them. This one it blue so it's easy to tell when it's dirty.
