SATA 2.5 to IDE 2.5 44 pins adapter -"flat" version for Laptop

I don't want to be too harsh with the rating, because it's maybe down to something else, but the bottom line is that it worked for a couple of hours and that's all. When I took the drive out again afterwards it was very hot, so I can only assume something has shorted in this adapter. It looks OK but doesn't work. The drive is fine, I've checked it via another computer, and the laptop I was installing it in is fine too, now I've got this out of it. It fit nicely, though that may be thanks to my model of laptop (Acer Aspire) and was just flat enough in the compartment to be closed, etc., so was good in that way. For the couple of hours it was on it worked, but then.... As I say, there might be other reasons for this, but I can't find them or deduce them, but, as a tenner spent on achieving nothing but some wasted time, I should theoretically give it the lowest rating, but reserve judgement. Though a device shouldn't short out so easily, I would say, and, as I say, no signs of any unusual load coming from elsewhere. This may relate to the 'high power consumption' another user mentioned. Wondering if I should fork out on another one. More irritatingly, I'm abroad and bought this during a trip to the UK and it's very hard to find a replacement where I am now.

Their dimensions were very accurate. Just fitted in my acer aspire 2020 laptop with a new ssd.

the item sent was not as seen. sata should have been female and the pins should have been male. Also it was advertised as FLATin fact was up-right. NOT worth the postage to send it back. very disappointed .BET

Worked OK but unfortunately not enough room in laptop for HDD to fit properly.

Dead. Doesnt spin up any drive attached to it.

Easy to use as an upgrade for an Amiga computer though power consumption is a little high.I need a bigger psu.

Well it don't look much but it sure dose the job. For me it was to connect a E-Sata to the motherboard, when I changed hard drives the old replacement was and IDE which took the motherboard connection.So now I have the e-sata on the IDE ribbon as the slave and the HDD as master, works great for me, no problems to date.
