Review: Want to build an MTB with drops? Try this. - I really wanted to try a drop bar conversion, but road shifters or barends can be very expensive. With this handlebar I could keep my original drivetrain components, I've got two shimano rapidfire shifters close to the middle, and drop bar brake levers on the front. It does accept 22.2 clamps but you have to wiggle them on, this will scratch the bars a bit. Not an issue if you are using bar tape later. The dropbar brake levers are 23.8 ones from Tektro, but they work with this handlebar after tightening them very well also. A really cool, cheap handlebar. Ideal for an MTB conversion on a budget.
