Tram 1600-HC Pretuned 35-Inch VHF Fiberglass Antenna with RG58 Cable and PL-259 Connectors

Easy installation....almost too easy. I wish the one end was left bare so the cable could be cut to length. The nice part is the connectors are definitely sealed and pressed correctly. Instead of the screws supplied, I used screws with the washer and lock nut combo since I had the access. Plugged it into the radio and radio traffic came in nice and clear. I live close to the Mississippi River in New Orleans and was picking up the commercial traffic as well as the weather channel on it. I attempted a radio check with my Sea Tow membership but was unable to get through to it clearly. Granted, I am in the city with plenty of obstructions for the signal so now only time will tell on it's durability. I do like the allen style set screws for the whip antenna, easy on and off.

Excellent delivery and price

I purchased this antenna initially to mount on my garage and connect to a handheld VHF just to listen to the harbor traffic. When my boat was completed, I decided to give it a shot on the boat before purchasing another. I've been pleasantly surprised by the performance; I'm easily able to converse with boats around 15nm from my position, and this is with the antenna mounted low on the center console. I have no doubt that the higher it's mounted, the more the performance improves. The downside: The plastic of the base / coil enclosure has yellowed in the sun in the nearly two years it's been exposed to the elements. The label is fading and cracking. The whip, like some others have noticed, is subject to slight corrosion if left unprotected from salt water, but it's the type of surface corrosion that is easily removed with a scotchbrite pad, and protecting the whip with a light coat of corrosion block keeps it shiny. Also, the set screw that secures the whip into the base is prone to vibrate loose. Do yourself a favor and put a drop of loctite or (as I did) superglue on it and you'll have no problems. One last thing: The claim of 6dB gain on this antenna is ridiculous. Look at antennas of like design from Shakespeare and Metz; they're all rated 3dB. Those caveats aside, this antenna performs well and the price is right. I'd buy another any day.

Low tree limbs kept knocking the other antenna down. This solves that problem! Great quality, easy to install.

I wanted to mount my marine VHF radio in my personal vehicle to enable me to communicate with either my boat or one of my many friends boats prior to reaching the lake. I needed an antenna, but did not want a huge fiberglass whip. Instead, I wanted an antenna that appeared more like a standard CB antenna. This antenna, although shorter than a CB antenna, fills the bill. I get excellent transmit power and reception due to my vehicle becoming a ground plain. Very happy with this stainless steel antenna.

I like TRAM; I use this to easy-to-mount to monitor or operate FCC/International marine frequencies while afloat. This is a good antenna; works very well! It can be mounted almost anywhere on a marine craft. For first time installing, pay some-one who knows VHF Marine radio and is licensed do such installations. Always contact the USCG or the Auxiliary USCG when installing any communications transceivers on a maretime vessel.

The antenia is too flimsey, not fram enought. But the service was deliver quict.
