Peak Refuel Sweet Pork and Rice Freeze-Dried Meals, 40g Protein, 6-Pack

Very tasty, ate it on Monday and it prepared well, This is a meal I will reorder and add to those I recommend to others for camping, hiking, and as prepper meals due to the long shelf life.

This is a delicious backcountry meal. I even opened one and had it as a regular meal at the house when I did not like the options I had there.

It was tasty. But It needed some time to rehydrate the beans.

Left a similar review on the coconut curry (fave). This one is my second favorite! My family has a lot of dietary restrictions. It's really hard to find backpacker meals with no wheat or dairy for when we go as a family. Peak Refuel makes several, which is awesome. What's more awesome: they actually taste amazing. The ingredients list is super clean: food and flavor with very few preservatives. The flavor was amazing, a little kick, but not going to turn off the kiddos. Peak Refuel is making really great products and I'm super happy to have good options for the trail.

Big hunks of meat made for a very satisfying meal after a day on the trail. A little too sweet, but in fairness it's in the name, so that's on me. I found a little hot sauce balanced out the flavor well. After reading other reviews, I added maybe a quarter cup more of water than the instructions indicated but I wish I'd added even more. The corn in particular remained crunchy, even after letting it sit a full 20 minutes. Still, will definitely buy again.

Tasty , one of my go to meals backpacking.

I've always used these at home, tried them during the pandemic, Peak makes several meals covering the full range of breakfast lunch and dinner meals. This one is the first one I don't need to add anything to it's great as is. The pork pieces are like the other meals that have meat in them, real actual dehydrated meat and when it's re-hydrated there's a lot of it, I break down the larger pieces before adding the boiling water and break up the pieces of their sweet part containing the corn, beans and sweet red pepper if they're large pieces. The amount of water is a bit odd in that the amount Peak says to use isn't always enough or too much and remember I'm making these at home not outdoors hiking. This meal calls for just 1 cup of boiling water but due to the rice I increased it to 1-1/4 cups then pushed it to 1-1/2 cups of water to see if it would be more moist/slightly saucy, the rice came out perfectly cooked no crunching with the rest of the meal moist not dry like it was the first time I made it to their amounts and I always use theirs first. Being outside you'll want to do what I do inside after stirring and sealing pouch set it back in the pot used to boil the water and wrap a kitchen towel around the pouch to keep in the heat, let it sit for 21 mins then stir it well and eat!

Wasn't really good you need to add more water to it than it says and cook it and let it simmer longer than it says as well because of beans.

Absolutely loved this meal. Lots of shredded pork in the package and the rice was not soupy at all! Peak Refuel has really found a way to get home made tasting meals into their freeze dried packages. Their selection of meal choices is much better than other brands out there as well. I shared this one with my hiking buddy and he agreed it was MUCH better than the other ones he had tasted and well worth a few extra dollars for a gourmet style meal on the trails.

This was a great meal! We took it on a backpacking trip and it was super light and convenient. It took about 15 minutes to hydrate and it cooked beautifully. It was so good that our picky daughters wanted to switch meals so they could eat it! Tons of pork in it and it tasted awesome. We will definitely be ordering this meal again.

This was delicious! Tasted like sweet pork from Costa Vida or cafe Rio. (It is very sweet, so if you don't like that I would buy a different variety) Rice was not crunchy at all. My only concern was that some of the larger pieces of pork did not hydrate all the way.

I would definitely recommend this! Great product. Tastes like mom's home cooking in a bag! So far I am a really big fan of these Peak Refuel quick meals! They are all good for camping/hiking meals. Light weight, easy to transport in a back-pack, and actually taste good. Great customer service with Briden!
