Sandisk 4TB Extreme PRO Portable SSD with USB4, Up to 3,800MB/s Read Speeds

I have taken to checking how much data my backup software determines it needs to copy because this SSD is blazingly fast. I routinely have large files to copy yet it finishes the job practically instantly. It feels very sturdy although I am not planning to put it to the test. It’s compact in terms of how thin it is but not so much in length. It gets only a bit warmer than the ambient temperature. I had no problems with MacOS. Good compatibility. Great value! Very happy.

Very fast and solidly built drive. Connects via thunderbolt on my m5 MacBook Pro. It’s ultra portable, I even bought a little case for it. I got the 2TB for $249 in 11/25, it’s now 6/26 and the price is $399 which is crazy, but it’s still a decent drive and worth the price, this is because of the stupid tariffs so all portable ssds are gonna be more pricey nowadays. Connectivity and compatibility is fine with a Mac, I haven’t tried with a PC yet. It mounted to my Mac just fine and I was able to partition the drive, 1tb for backups and 1tb for general storage. The drive does heat up a bit but not too hot to cause issues. Overall I think this is a great drive!

This product is great for multiple reasons: the storage capacity is decent, but the connectivity is amazing. The portability is always a plus, but the fact that it hasn't heated up despite the file transfers we've run makes this a great buy and value for the money.

Good speed but the unit is much larger than I expected

Use with my Mac for file backup and find that transfer speeds from Mac to SSD via Thunderbolt cable is very fast. No issues nor problems encountered thus far.

Does not work with 2025 Mac studio on thunderbolt 5. It does connect and run on slower usb C ports on the front, but does not show up when plugged into the thunderbolt 5 ports. I went through all the recommended formatting, troubleshooting, using thunderbolt cables, but this does not work. Returning.Edit update: changed from 1 star to five. Customer support resolved the issue. After unplugging all ports, the drive now works, and it’s incredibly fast. The issue was with the M4 max, which requires a power supply for each monitor, so I had to plug my third monitor into a power supply. Unplug all Thunderbolt ports, especially ones that use power if this isn’t working with new Mac Studio. 3400 mb write read speeds are great, considering most SSDs are way under specs for real world testing.

Fast, reliable, very happy with it. Finally got great extension to my MacBook pro, definitely worth the money

A bit bigger than earlier models but probably correlated to components that makes it's transfer velocities so extremely rapid. If time is important it is worth the price.
