I must be doing something wrong? Is this cord supposed to stick out from the back of your head and not be flexible enough to hang down your back?

They do not fit tightly around her head. They hang but because of the way they are made they sort of float above your back. So you don't feel them.

NO that is not correct. I received ONE unit. I have no idea why they have that false advertising.
