Great Set of Starter headphones, moving up from earbuds.
Preface: This is a review from the perspective of someone who has never owned over-ear headphones, and is comparing sound quality to that of earbuds, rather than other over-ear headphones. Other reviewers with more sensitive ears do a much better job comparing these headphones to their direct competition.I am far from what you'd call an audiophile. I've never really used anything but cheap earbuds, cheap on-ears, and dinky laptop speakers. I picked these up because I work in an cube farm, as a developer, but surrounded by manager-types who are frequently on calls. Earbuds just weren't cutting it, and on top of that, the sound leak was a little too high for my liking (last thing I want to do is be another part of the problem), so I picked these up because they were at a good price point, and desperately stylish (I recall my roommate freshman year of college had a pair that I coveted from afar). The difference is incredible. At first, it was a strange listening experience because I was so used to hearing most of the outside world in addition to whatever music I was piping in to my earbuds. This pair is not actively noise-cancelling, but the over-ear nature means the rest of the world sort of fades away and allows the audio to shine. My music (entirely MP3 - I have no lossless/high quality formats to compare here) sounds fantastic, and since they are so great at passively isolating you from the world, I find myself consuming less battery on my phone since I no longer need to blast the audio as high to hear anything on a crowded subway. I've even taken to watching Netflix with these, since I have no Home Theater system, and my TV's speakers lose a lot of the bass and range that these manage to capture even at their price point. I have often rolled my eyes listening to audio enthusiasts positing that a decent sound system will allow you to hear things you've never heard before, in movies or music or whatever, but after owning these for a couple weeks, I'm sold. Now I'm looking into a receiver and a 5.1 system...I have a couple complaints, however. For the sake of brevity, I'll summarize them alongside the pros:Pros:- Sound is great. Like I mentioned at the beginning, I have no good horizontal comparison here, but as a step up from earbuds, this has been an enlightening experience.- very, very good looking. I find the stylings of most headphones to range somewhere on the scale between boring (most high-end sets) and ugly (things like Beats). These, however, are a delight to look at, and the candy red housing is eye catching to say the least.- Pretty comfortable. I wear these for 8 hours a day or so, and I have only a few minor complaints which will be detailed below. But generally, they are long wear-ready.Cons:- The phones themselves are free-sliding on the rails, with no apparent mechanism to lock them down. This allows them to slide to fit the head, and prevent bending. This also means that they aren't really 'supported' by the band. They mostly hang from your ears/rely on pressure. This can get a little annoying and require some readjustment during long use. However, I imagine a twist tie or some other kludge could solve that issue if it becomes too much of an issue.- The cable is a biiit short. I haven't run in to any direct issues with it, but I feel like an extra foot or so would have been super helpful.None of these complaints are detracting in any way from my enjoyment of these headphones. Great pair, and would definitely buy again.

Great price, great sounding for the price, great retro colors, durable, replacement ear pads available!
These are great headphones for the price. They are durable and have great sound, comfortable over the ears and they stay on your head well easy to adjust them on your head. I have had mine for 3 years and they are going strong. I love the retro pink color for women. My husband as a pair of green ones and he loves to wear his when he is outdoors cutting the grass. The sweat and dried out the leather ear pads and that is not a problem you can get your self a spare of replacements easily here on Amazon.com. The ear phone pad replacements are very easy to replace and replacements fit like the originals. When I bought my Husbands pair I only paid $13.00 3 years ago and who knew that this headphone would be come very popular headphones for the price and decent quality? My husband I both have a pair and they are going strong. One thing I really like about these is that they fit good around the ears that sound does not escape so you don't have to have the volume loud to hear your music good and clear when you are around noisy situations as outdoors. Here is the link to the earphone replacements which I highly recommend ordering along with these headphones for spare parts because they can be sold out from time to time. Great for the Price
If you listen to music as much as I do, you want to hear your music with the best sound quality possible. Or at least the finest at an affordable price. That's where these headphones come in. You see, while they are far from the best cans you can encase your ears with, if you're switching over from earbuds then you're in for a treat.Look and Design:As so many have already put it, one of the most noticeable aspects of this model is the retro design. This style is sure to appeal to many shoppers, including myself. In person, I can attest to their desirability. I chose the sleek finish of the black and am very happy about how they look for when I'm out in public. Just as important as the look is the comfort. They are snug on the ear but I noticed after my first hour or so of use that they did hurt my ears a bit. This does present a slight problem during long listening sessions, be it music or a movie, but it's not so much discomfort that they become unwearable. It is worth pointing out nevertheless. Also, I wish they were able to fold when storing inside a bag. They'd feel much less fragile if they could but that's a minor quibble.Sound:I imagine this is what you what you, the reader, are really interested in. First, let me reiterate that if you're making the jump from those stock earbuds which come with the iPod, it will be night and day. Music suddenly comes more to life. The sound is fuller and more encompassing, which is to be expected. This isn't my first foray into non-earbuds but it is my first in many years. It also makes your old earbuds seem rather lame the first time you use them again. After all, sometimes earbuds are just more appropriate. I've gotten used to the transition though. But back to the Panasonics...they really do get the job done. I'm no audio expert, but I do know what sounds good and what doesn't. These fit the bill just fine and serve as a fantastic jumping off point into the higher-end and much pricier headphones down the road. Luckily, I don't see myself having to do that anytime soon since I'm pleased enough right now.Price:I once had a pair of Sony headphones. They cost me twice the price of the Panasonics at the time, looked nowhere near as cool, and, if I can recall, the quality in sound was about even. So it's good to know that they are offering great sound at a lower price these days. I also noticed the list price is $60 when not on sale. Do not pay that much. However, they are easily worth the $30 I forked over.Overall:If you need a budget pair of over-the-ear headphones that make you seem stylish, you can't go wrong with the Panasonic RP-HTX7's. Other than a minor issue in comfort during long periods of wear, they will suit almost any listener, from the average joe to the fully-fledged audiophile. Well, almost any audiophile.
