Review after 1 Year
I'm hesitant to write reviews on electronics after just receiving them, so I waited a year to write a review on this air conditioner. We've had this unit since July 2025 (it's currently June 2026), and it still works like a dream! We're actually ordering an additional one for another bedroom. Pros of this AC unit are that it cools FAST. The airflow is strong, and if you point the vents up toward the ceiling, you can chill a medium sized bedroom in ~15 minutes. It also hasn't had a large impact on our energy bill -- only about a $20 increase from our winter electricity bills. We generally only run the machine during the hottest part of the day (~1pm to 8pm), so if you find yourself running it 24/7 at the coldest settings, your results may vary. Cons of this AC unit are related to the noise. The machine is pretty powerful, and the sound of the air rushing out of the machine is on-par with a normal window AC unit. It's similar to a large white noise machine. The machine's on/off/temp adjustment beeps are also loud -- probably so they can be heard over the sound of the fans -- but we've learned to live with that. One neutral comment from our house is the size/weight -- we live in a partially carpeted house, and so when these machines come out, they stay where they're at for the season. They're not overly heavy, but it's an arduous task to pick them up and carry them to a new spot. Moving the machines on hard floors though? Easy as pie. There's barely any resistance. Make sure to consider the floor situation of the room you're putting this in. At the end of the day - it's 1yr later and we're still using our original units without issues. Our new unit is on the way, and we're hoping that it performs the same. If there's been some quality change in the last year, we'll post a new update.

So far no complaints.
So far so good. No issues. Aesthetically very nice looking. No louder than a motel AC unit. Got this unit last year during a big heat wave or heat pump system is on the fritz. I'm caregiving for my mother and unfortunately I have to zone control her room she doesn't like it as cool as I do. So I needed something. This outfit seem to get a lot of big reviews and I like the idea that it was a three-in-one The dehumidifier was a nice plus though I've not used it I might try it this summer. Most times I just use the fan feature as it's relatively not been screechingly hot to use the AC side but when it does it keeps the library room that I'm in quite comfortable which I sleep in when it gets really too humid and hot. It is a bit loud for some people though I don't mind it I enjoy the white noise aspect but it's true it's no louder than the average motel unit. Though in future models it would be nice to see if they can develop a super low fan speed. Not much difference between high and low on this model. Soundwise. Granted portables aren't technically as efficient as window AC units just by the nature. There's a long long YouTube explanation of the efficiency between the two styles. But we do not have typical open sash windows We have three casement windows crank out style that were installed some years ago within the house so I had to prefab some paneling I used the dimension and thickness of the current window screen panel with a template Staind weatherproofed the panel. Then use the exhaust attachment that came with the unit as a template to cut out the hole Then able to find tiny screws where I was able to screw it in I'm still able to open and close the casement window. Don't forget to attach or staple or some type of bug screen on the outside so no critters bugs etc can go in up into the tube and maybe will not running end up in your house also it keeps wasp and trying to be creative. By the time and money I may have had that made out of plexiglass but that would have been an extra cost as it would have been professionally done cutting semi circular holes in plexiglass is not a simple task. But if looking out is important to you then that would be the way to go. I bought mine as a reconditioned model on Amazon so far I've always had pretty good luck with reconditioned buys It's usually means they fixed the issue. I have the unit 2 ft off the floor on a stand which helps cut down the unit from sucking in floor or carpet dust and keeps certain of the male kitties from feeling they need to back up against it to do something they shouldn't do LoL.

Compact, Cold, and Convenient – A Summer Lifesaver
Compact, Cold, and Convenient – A Summer Lifesaver This little 3-in-1 portable AC unit has made a huge difference in my home during the warmer months. At 8,000 BTU, it’s sized just right for a bedroom or small office, and I found it cools the space down surprisingly fast. The airflow is strong, and when aimed directly, you can really feel the chill. I’ve used it both in cooling mode and as a dehumidifier, and it genuinely helps cut down on that sticky humidity that makes a room uncomfortable. Setup was quick—basically plug it in, connect the hose, and place the vent out the window. The included window kit works, though like others, I had to trim it slightly to fit my frame properly. Once installed, the rolling wheels make it easy to move from room to room, which is a big plus if you don’t want to commit to one spot. Noise level is moderate—about what I expected for a portable AC. It’s not whisper-quiet, but more of a steady hum that fades into the background after a while (almost like white noise). The remote control is handy at night, letting me adjust temperature and fan speed without getting up. One pleasant surprise: I was initially worried about dealing with condensation drainage, but it has a self-evaporation system. After several days of continuous use, only a tiny bit of water had collected, so maintenance hasn’t been a hassle. Bottom line: For the price, this SereneLife portable AC delivers excellent cooling, simple installation, and useful extra features in a compact design. If you need a reliable way to keep a bedroom or small space cool and dry without permanent installation, this unit is a strong pick.

SereneLife keeps us kool!!
Purchased this unit to help keep our pet cool during those HOT days. So far, it is working well - keep in mind that it has only been in service for 1 week and has only been used 3 times so far. Setup is a breeze. The window installation plate that comes with the unit - be prepared to cut it to size. I used my miter saw to accomplish the task. The room's square footage is 127.46. Doesn't take long to cool it down. Suppose the battle is that the room in the morning gets all of the sun that would typically keep the room warm/hot!! Initially, we purchased a cheaper unit - one that needed to use multiple frozen containers to assist with the heat, but that was promptly returned as only the dog would feel the cool air. Oh, don't have to worry about adding water to the tank!! Spent an extra 148 for this, and it is well worth it!!

Got this summer handled!! Great AC
This is amazing at cooling my living room. I exchanged this from a smaller one and honestly it is extremely reliable and portable. The exhaust hose is also shorter so it fits perfectly in the corner of my living room. The one difference I see that for me is a slight downfall is that it doesn’t have WiFi accessibility nor an app where my older one did. Either way this still works better at cooling down and keeping my living space cool. My space is on the smaller size as it was built in the 30’s so the size of this AC is perfect. The other bad part is that it is pretty loud. I have to up the volume on my TV if I sit too close to it but again it is not louder than the older one. If I had a space that was bigger then it wouldn’t matter. I think I will definitely get more value for my money than I expected.

Greatly Disappointed
This is a review for SereneLife SLPAC14 Portable Air Conditioner (14,000 BTU). I had a great AC that died recently. So, I did some research to find the ideal AC, however I had the hardest time choosing one due to lack of information on the AC’s listing pages and lack of honest opinions. So, I’m writing this review to help you make the right decision, or rather to save you from making the same mistake I made. In short, this AC is not good. Stay away. Don’t buy. To elaborate more: - Manual is in broken English. Some instructions are hard to understand. - The AC is heavier and larger than an average portable AC. Plus, you need around 20 inches of space around it, and the hose needs to be 35 inches up and away from the floor. Small room? Low window? No good. - Manual states “When the temperature is higher than 40c/104-f, it’s not recommended to use this unit.” Go ahead, buy this AC, but don’t use it when it’s hot outside. Shouldn’t this be in the product description? Shouldn’t one know BEFORE buying? - Wheels are useless. Needs A LOT of effort to move the AC if you have carpets on your floors. Therefore, it’s not truly portable. You can’t easily move it from window to window, and you might need help to get it to the window you want to install it in. Can’t comment on wooden or tile floors. - Manual states “If the machine is shut down in the cooling operation state, it needs to wait for three minutes before it can be turned on automatically”. And that is exactly what it’s been doing. You set it to cool and pick a temperature. When it reaches the set temperature, it turns totally and completely OFF. Three minutes later, it turns on again, then off. Without switching to fan mood in between. Why is this a problem? Well, you know when you first turn on white noise? You notice it at first, then it blends into the background. It drowns out all other annoying noises and helps you sleep, work, study, etc. Even when it’s loud, you don’t notice it until you shut it off. That’s what this AC does. It turns on with a LOUD white noise, then it turns COMPLETELY off. Doesn’t switch to fan mood. Then, a few minutes later, it turns on again. So you are constantly listing to the sound of white noise turning on and off, repeatedly. It gave me a terrible headache within the hour. It wakes me up every single time it turns off, or on. No restful sleep what so ever. I woke up exhausted and grumpy. If you want peaceful, restful sleep, this AC is not for you. - Control Panel: It sings TELALA in a loud, high-pitched voice, announcing itself to my entire building every time I press any button (panel or remote). How do you feel about your AC shouting at you every time you touch its buttons? If someone is sleeping, and you attempt to adjust the settings on this AC, you’ll wake them up. - Remote: Doesn’t sync with the panel on the AC. If you use the panel to turn on the AC and adjust the settings, then you grab the remote to change something. The settings on the panel will suddenly revert to the last settings you choose the last time you used the remote. All the settings you picked on the panel are now changed. Basically, you’ll need to stick to either the remote or the panel at all times and don’t touch the other. Although, if you want to use the temperature in celsius, your only option is the remote. - Window Kit and Hose: The hose is paper thin. So thin it wrinkles and lets in heaps of heat and sunlight. Window kit is just as bad. Thin plastic. Warps when you close the window, leaves tons of gaps, and doesn’t even fit a standard 35”-36" window. You’ll need to shed an extra $50 for a new kit. - Filter: A cheap thin layer of mesh. Never seen AC filter this cheap. Already showing signs of wear and tear and it’s brand new. - Drain Outlet: There is only ONE drain outlet. Positioned at the very bottom of the AC. It’s so low, it’s touching my carpet. No space, not even for the thinnest pan or tray. If there was a second outlet, you could easily open the bottom outlet (water won’t flow yet), hookup a drain hose, then open the top drain outlet, and THAT will cause the water to flow from the bottom drain. But with just ONE outlet, you need a yard, balcony, or other suitable place that allows for draining without a tray or hose. Many people don’t have such options. Also, when the AC tank is full of water, according to the manual, it’ll start beeping. Who’s in for a midnight awakening during a heat wave because the AC is throwing a fit? - Cooling Power: Even though I got the 14,000 BTU, and the temperature outside is only 22-c/72-f, and the room the AC is in is about 350 sq, I’m sweating! Most likely because the AC is not switching to fan mood. It just keeps shutting down every few minutes. Leaving me feeling suffocated with no flowing air or white noise to save me from my noisy neighbours like my previous AC did! Conclusion: The heat is sneaking upon us here in south California. It’s hard to believe how unlucky I got with this AC. Trapped in this terrible situation. Unable to afford another AC, and have no physical strength, transportation, or help to return it. I just want to cry. So upset. Sad beyond words. Do yourself a favor and look into other ACs from other companies. With that, I end my review and hope that it helped you in your search. Best of wishes to you all.

Quiet For Nighttime Use - Window Vent Is Terrible - 3.5 Stars
We have two portable air conditioners because our house was built in 1949 and even though we have central air that does a fairly decent job of cooling our house, there are areas that get way too hot. The upstairs where my husband's home office is located reaches over 95 degrees on warmer summer days, so we got him a Black and Decker portable air conditioner last year. It is a beast. It is loud, but it also cools fast and efficiently. My husband can set the Black and Decker at 68 degrees and his office is freezing. We needed another portable air conditioner for our bedroom, which is on the main floor of our house because the sensor for the central A/C is on one side of the house and our bedroom is on the opposite side. At night we bake and even in Michigan there are nights when the temperature does not go below 80 degrees, so leaving windows open does not help at all. We wanted an air conditioner that was quieter for sleeping and lighter, so we could possibly move it to my husband's den next door to our bedroom. Also, at the end of the season, carrying the A/Cs downstairs in the basement for storage is much easier if they do not weigh a ton. The SereneLife A/C gets mixed reviews in our house because we are comparing it to the Black and Decker. Here is what we have observed: Remote: SereneLife remote does not have a digital screen, which I never thought would annoy me, but if you are tired and half asleep and just want to quickly adjust the temperature up or down and do not want to physically need to look at the unit, having a remote that tells you what the current temperature is, is SO helpful. The Black and Decker wins here. Also, the SereneLife Remote sometimes just stops responding after a few hours of not pushing buttons, which I noticed can be fixed by pushing the power button (this does not turn the unit off). Window vent: SereneLife needs to throw their entire window vent away and start over. In fact, I would encourage them to call Black and Decker and talk to them about purchasing their window vent design. Black and Decker's window vent is far superior. SereneLife's window vent not only does not fit in my standard size replacement window - one side of the slider is wider than the other, which has required us to fill in the gap with foam strips - but the slider lock does not actually lock in place. Also the vent tube falls out almost constantly and immediately. Temperature control - SereneLife does a good job of keeping our very small bedroom cold at night. We set the temperature at 72 and our bedroom was adequately comfortable for the entire night with the until turning on and off as needed. At one point I think the SereneLife turned to fan from cool by itself for some reason, but I cannot be absolutely sure this happened. The Black and Decker is just as good at keeping the room cold. Noise - SereneLife smashed this. The Black and Decker turns on and off with a quiet nothing, but then when it turns back on there is a loud condenser noise that reaches about 95 dba. It is loud. It woke me up all night long. SereneLife, however, just turned on and did its job with the peak noise at about 70 dba. This is still not quiet by any stretch, but is WAY more tolerable. Cost - Black and Decker costs $299 for 8000 BTU and SereneLife is $249 (both sale prices). Recommendations: Honestly, if you don't care about noise, buy the Black and Decker just for the window vent. If you want this A/C for your bedroom at night, go for the SereneLife and understand that you will need to make some adjustments to the vent in your window to block incoming hot air.

Works just be smart about it
I have two of these units, one is upstairs and the other is downstairs, they are being used in 150 year-old farmhouse of which has no air-conditioning and only gas heat. It is very effective in the majority of the Indiana heat and I will say yes you do need to drain it either out the window or into a bucket. If you’re gonna complain about emptying a bucket, then you need to find something else. I am extremely happy with these and I’ve been using them roughly 3 years now. Installation and set up was easy and fast. As with any other air-conditioning unit, it will cost a little on your electric bill but honestly, I’m not sitting here freezing due to 18 inches of snow. Would I buy it again, yes! Right now I just don’t have the money for another unit. Something I would like to add, is to be smart with how and where you place these. If you’re going to use them and then open area, which has a lot of windows, you need insulating curtains, or something to block the heat from coming into the house. Think about way back when the air-conditioning wasn’t really around. It’s the same theory. And the summertime you cover your windows to keep everything out. And the winter time you open them up, as long as they’re insulated, to let the sun in and heat up the house just be smart.

Amazing SERENE~Life portable AC highly recommended
Let's write a review for this portable AC I can immediately give 5 stars! A very good air conditioner for the home, easy to install if you follow the instructions, very easy to move on carpet, laminate or parquet. Manula does a great job explaining how to install and why each part is used and how to use it. It fits our window well, there are no air gaps, the pipe is very easy to place where it fits in the window. Not that loud at all, compared to my previous air conditioner, this new air conditioner has even better settings and functions. We are very impressed with this product and would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone. Our living room and kitchen are super cool because we set the temperature to 17 Celsius on the low setting. The delivery was excellent, the package was correct without any damage to the package. No issue with electric fuse works amazing.

Quiet, Efficient, and Easy to Use
I’m very happy with this portable AC. It cools my room quickly, runs much quieter than my previous unit, and the inverter technology helps keep the temperature consistent without constantly cycling on and off. The WiFi app and remote are convenient, and the installation was straightforward. I also like that it includes heating, fan, and dehumidifier modes, making it useful year-round. Overall, it’s a great portable air conditioner that’s efficient, quiet, and packed with useful features. Definitely worth the investment!

Good for aiming at zones / rooms from far away (10+ feet). Poor distribution.
This is a very odd unit. It was also smaller than it appeared in the photos, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. I got on prime day for $300 before tax. I have a bit of a conflicting review: As an open space cooling unit, I would rate this a 3 stars for the following reasons: -no automatically swivelling output to spread cold air in different directions which is a problem for this unit due to how it projects air (described later). -Odd sounding. It is not exceptionally loud, and the noise comes more for the airflow issues rather than the compressor motor. The compressor motor is fairly quiet compared to units I have used 10+ years ago. The issue is that it sounds like there is a lot of air friction in the unit causing a raspy sound. In the room sleeping, this would bother me. Thankfully I can put it outside the room for reasons described below. -Advertised to cool $350 square feet for the 8000 BTU unit. Manual specs say 200 square feet. However, we just finished a 37 degree celcius day, and it did fine keeping the edge off the heat in a space of about 500 square feet. But there were significant differences in zones, and by the end of the day there were marked increases in areas not directly in line with the vent. -The length of the window piece was slightly too short for my case by about 4 inches. This could use one more extension piece for some pretty standard living room windows. Should fit bedroom windows fine. -The window piece is poorly shaped. It could use thin edges to slide into window grooves. I dont understand why they are so thick and slightly rounded. I needed to tape this into the window to avoid gaps that bugs could get through. -The directions are not terrible, but not good. I though I had a DOA unit until I saw the breaker reset switch on the wall plug. Could mention this in the manual for setup. -The water tube supplied was very short, and there is no exist for the water hose on the window piece. Also not clear if this has a pump discharge (for elevated hose) or what height above floor level the exit can be without backing up into the tank. Edit regarding last point above: After reviewing the instructions closely, it is specified that the drainage plug should be sealed when in air conditioning mode. It should only be opened in dehumidifying mode. Apparently these newer models evaporate the collected moisture, and according to the instructions, this evaporation is actually required to make the unit more efficient at cooling. If the humidity is too high, and the tank does fill, the unit will shut down automatically. Why I rate this a 4: -Despite the 200 square feet in the manual, it cooled better than expected for a small 8000BTU unit. -I mention above the issues with how it spreads air. But for some cases, as in mine, this was actually a benefit. This thing literally shoots air in a thin straight line. So I could aim it at my bedroom door from about 14 feet away, and it actually cooled my 12x12 bedroom to comfortable sleeping levels with much less noise than if it was in the room. I could still hear it, but it was more white noise, and I normally cant even stand white noise. Also,I like it very cool to sleep (<20C). The overnight outdoor temperature was about 24 to 26 C. I also only started cooling the room at around 11:30pm after receiving the unit at 9:30pm (+2 hours for it to sit vertically before turning on so as to not damage the compressor after delivery), and it was comfortable enough for me to sleep within an hour. Additionally, my entire house hadn't been with cooling the entire day, so the internal temperature before starting the AC was around 25 to 28C after a fairly hot 30C day. Today it is 37C, so see my comments about whole area cooling above.
