Top quality mattress topper
I was looking for a topper for a new firm mattress that had little cushioning on top. I didn't know what to expect from a memory foam pad, so I started to read reviews. I also knew I wanted one with a cover, as ALL foam no matter how good will crumble a bit, and leave a mess. I decided on the UTTU topper. I was surprised at how small a box it arrived in, and even more surprised at how fast it unfolded, and filled out while leaving absolutely no folds or creases. The only downside in build as far as I'm concerned is no straps to keep it in place on bed. I'm using a waterproof mattress cover over the pad and mattress...which keeps it in place, so it's not really an issue for me. I would recommend one if you are buying this. This topper makes a night and day difference on how my new mattress feels. It does not interfere with the mattress firmness, but adds a layer of comfort to it. The topper leaves no "divots", is supportive, and has no difference in temperature vs not using it. Pretty pricey for a foam pad...but this is no ordinary foam pad. I am 100% happy with this topper, and HOPE I will get years of use from it. UPDATE May 2022: After 4 years of use...virtually no noticeable difference from when purchased. No flat spots, cover is still in great shape. I can see this pad lasting for many more years.

Update to review on recent purchase
I am updating my original review- which is below. So, I bought bought my 3rd topper about 2 weeks ago. Last year I bought an expensive mattress at a furniture store with perfect firmness for my bad back. However, the mattress they sent is entirely too firm, even after a year. I was so excited when this topper was delivered, I had had great luck with the other two (one had been severely damaged when guests stayed over and the other was a gift to an extremely picky mom- who absolutely loves it). However, as soon as I opened the box I knew this one was different. Itโs thinner and not the same quality. Then I read some of the lower star reviews, and agree with a few. However, I also noted that the bulk of the issues were either during or after the pandemic. Perhaps like most companies now, they are under staffed and/or they have a lot of new, untrained staff. Though this last purchase isnโt as comfortable as the prior 2, I decided to keep it because it does help soften my rock hard mattress! Maybe with time the company will get back to where they were before. Now THAT, would be awesome! Original review: Very comfy and lasts a long time. I have bought 3 now- 1 for my mom and 2 for me. Mom is a very tough customer and she loves it! She has bad hips, I have a bad back and the pad helps us both immensely. Canโt say enough about the quality and how nice it feels. You wonโt go wrong with this one!

Stopped Hip Pain - Better than 4 lb Density
In 2012, I purchased the Viscoelastic 3" 4 lb density memory foam topper. It stopped my hip pain until 2018 when I bought the UTTU topper. The UTTU topper is 3 lb density. Physically, it is much lighter to move than my old 4lb. When I unwrapped the UTTU, it expanded to full size in less than an hour. There was absolutely no odor. Best of all, my hip pain stopped. In my guest room, the mattress topper is an old-fashioned, inexpensive egg crate foam topper (not memory foam) with a heavily padded cotton mattress pad cover. It is slightly softer than the UTTU as measured by how far my hand sank down in each when I pressed full force. I alternated sleeping on the new UTTU and the old egg crate. Both were very comfortable and I had no hip pain but I preferred the softer egg crate and looked into getting an even softer memory foam topper. However, I then considered which one would be best for watching TV in bed and decided that the UTTU offered better bottom and back support for TV but enough softness for my hips at night. I decided to keep the UTTU and not purchase a softer memory foam topper (or use the guest room egg crate topper) for my bed. So, after purchasing two memory foam toppers, I'm not convinced that they are truly better than the old fashioned egg crate toppers. For that reason, I gave the UTTU a 4 star rating but it really is a great topper.

Very Comfortable
As is shown in the pictures, I have an older mattress set. It was getting to the point I was considering having to buy a new one because it was no longer comfortable and I was waking up with various pains and soreness. I had already tried a thinner foam topper which was not helping as much as I had hoped. This topper is very comfortable! It is true to size and comes in a zippered cover. The underside is slip resistant so that the topper stays in place. The material is soft and cool to the touch. It was easy to unbox and then unwrap with the enclosed opener (also shown in picture). According to the instructions, it is best to wait for 24 hours after opening to actually sleep on the topper so that it has sufficient time to expand properly and air from the typical foam smell (not overly strong unless you have a sensitive nose). I didn't have to wait the full 24 hours. I put the topper on in the early afternoon and began sleeping on it that night...fully expanded, with only a hint of the smell which has since dissipated. I've used this a little over a week and have been waking up without the hip pain and headaches I had been having before. I tend to like a firm mattress and even though this is very cushioned, it is still designed to give support where it is needed. I'm very pleased with the topper and highly recommend. I'm looking forward to using it for several years without replacing my mattress set.

FIRST ONE WAS THE BEST I'VE EVER TRIED ... NEW ONE IS TERRIBLE.
I've tried MANY toppers; none worked to relieve hip and shoulder pressure. This DOES! I'm sleeping better than in years. I still have pain, but that's ME. I don't have the "pain spots" on my shoulders and hips, though. I do need a stepladder to get on the bed, though! Kidding. It stays put pretty well; every time I change linens, I adjust it just a little bit. The corner elastic is VERY helpful. Overall, I would definitely buy again and recommend. Update a couple years later: The original topper still gets 10 thumbs up and five stars; still looks like the one in the advertisement; still incredibly comfortable. However, I gave it to my daughter and purchased a new one. It is terrible. Had it open, waiting for it to "smooth out" for FOUR days. The first one was ready to roll within six hours. This one still has very obvious lumps and bumps, big crease down the middle, and hasn't inflated or flattened out as it should have. Too large and bulky for handicapped person such as myself to try to box up and return, so I'm stuck. Will probably cut it up and make dog/cat beds out of it for local shelters, or donate as is to a people shelter. I'm going to try sleeping on it tonight as is; I don't hold out much hope for comfort, though. Uttu - shame on you for either tanking on the quality, or sending out this lemon. Will update - again - if it shapes up. Don't hold your breath...

Didn't plump up completely even after 55 days
Update: 55 days later Here I am almost 2 months later and it still hasn't plumped up uniformly. Plus, it feels like, when I lay down, that I'm in a hole. If I press on the outer edges where I don't normally sleep, the topper still feels firm...it's hard to compress it but when I press in the middle where I do sleep, there is little resistance so, basically, when I sleep on my side, my hips and shoulders feel like they're touching the mattress I'm trying to get cushioning for, and I'm not a big person. Plus it's warm. We are in cooler weather and I still find myself getting kind of sweaty frequently. Fortunately, I only paid about half of what I've seen this advertised for... but that was still more than it's worth. Hopefully, it will last me until I can get a decent topper. At least the cover is decent. I bought a Serta foam mattress a few years back and it was way too firm so I got a 2" memory foam topper and that helped but it did get warm so, after looking at several options, I decided to try this topper. It arrived quickly and was easy to unwrap and place on the bed in the morning. When I came home that night, it looked like it was mostly plumped up so I thought I'd give it another day. It still hadn't fully plumped up but I decided to sleep on it. This went on top of a Serta in the box mattress that was too firm so now I've added 3 inches to a 10 inch mattress. That would have been fine...if it had worked...but it never plumped up all the way as can be seen in the pictures. I've had it on the bed for about 10 days now and still not fully "plumped" up which kind of defeats the purpose. I had high hopes for this because it looks like a quality product and it's a royal pain to repack and get into the box... but I may have to do that. As for neck and shoulder pain, it didn't really help ... even with different pillows. Hopefully, it will work for you.

I Cant Believe It Works
Ok. So a few weeks ago my back went out...again. It does this every so often, as it has been doing since I was 19 years old. Diagnosed with herniated disks while in college, I suffered a major crisis back crisis in 2006 where my disks had slipped so far out of pace that I could barely walk. Sciatica added to the situation and I was almost wheelchair bound (at just 33 years old) by the time I ended up in emergency surgery (after passing out from the pain). Since then I have (mostly) recovered, but experience back pain off and on - nothing like the crisis time, but enough to slow me down quite a bit for day/weeks at a time. A few weeks ago my back started doing its thing and within a few days it became clear that this was going to be a doozy. Sitting, standing, bending...hell...even BREATHING hurt. Add to it a more recently diagnosed autoimmune condition, arthritis and costchondritis (still dont know exactly what the hell THAT is...) and you got one achy, grumpy, unhappy lady. Having spent thousands over the years on fancy mattresses, mattress toppers, egg crates, memory foams, perfect pillows and all other kinds of accouterment, with a stomach, liver and kidneys showing signs of damage from all the painkillers and pills, I was at a point of desperation when I came to Amazon to see if maybe there was something else I could try. I put in 'mattress topper bad back' and several options came up. I dont know what made me choose this one - I think it was the pattern on it that I liked - but I clicked on it, and IMMEDIATELY jumped to the reviews. I saw several from others with chronic back issues swearing by it and after a few short moments of consideration I said 'f'it. I'm desperate here' and added it to the cart. It arrived several days later in a relatively small box. I unpacked it, took the plastic off and laid it out in my living room to air out. My back was a hot mess by this time so I was anxious to get this sucka goin. The next night I dragged it to my room (its not that heavy - I just was so crippled everything felt like a million pounds) and dragged that mugg onto my I-paid-$2000-but-my-back-still-hurts-mattress. I was worried my sheets wouldnt fit, but they did (they seemed to have been made to accommodate a topper, which dawned on me at that moment why they had seemed so big all this time). I took a hot shower (letting the water hit my back) loaded up on some more stomach killing ibuprofens and went it. I swear...I must have fallen alseep immediately because the last thing I remember thinking was "this feels pretty goooo......". EIGHT HOURS LATER I awaken. EIGHT FREAKIN HOURS. I havent slept 8 hours since before my son was born. Hes 23. I had slept the entire night, not only NOT waking up, tossing and turning, fighting with the 50-11 pillows of different sizes, proportions and dimensions that is play musical chairs with nightly, trying to relieve pressure off my back and other achy parts...but also not having to PEE every 2.3 hours. This damn thing stopped my midnight peeing!! Dazed and confused, not because of the lack of sleep from the night before (which is how I usually feel in the morning), but because what I realized next floored me. The back pain that had hobbled me for THREE WEEKS prior to this moment was gone. G. O. N. E. GONE. I didnt trust it, so I closed my eyes again and waited for the pain to come - figured it was being tricksy and false like Gollum said they would - so I laid there with both eyes closed, knowing it would creep up at any second. Nothing. I turned over thinking, this bastard aint foolin me today - when I hit this side position it'll come back with a vengeance. Nothing. I turned on the other side. Opened one eye to see if I could spot in coming. Nothing. After about 5 more minutes of ever increasing increments of back pain-testing movements followed by a mix of anticipation and curiosity, I sat up thinking WHAT THE F@CK JUST HAPPENED HERE? Still in disbelief, I slowly threw my legs over the side and waited. Nothing. I stood up. Nothing. I took a step. Nothing. I slowly began walking, expecting this all to be some kind of prank or joke, only to find that I made it to the bathroom (my bladder didnt know what to do with all this extra pee) and sat down, took care of business and GOT UP...with NO. FREAKIN. PAIN. I *literally* could not believe it, so I came back into my room and pulled the sheets back off this joint to see if I could spot whatever sorcery it was emitting. Didnt find any, but I what I DID have was the first day in WEEKS where I wasnt hobbling around like some 90 year old invalid. Not only was the pain gone that morning, it remained gone/manageable most of the day. By the time it was time to go in again, the pain was just beginning to return - but I wanted to test this magic to see if the kidney-killing ibuprofens are what had let to my peaceful slumber. That night, I took NOTHING. I didnt even shower. I just got in the bed and waited. Within 20 minutes I was alseep, and while not quite as unbroken as the night before (I did get up to pee once) I had 9 solid hours of sleep with little to no pain/tossing & turning. I awakened to the same no-pain morning and began my day thinking "Oh Sh!t. This thing works". Its been 2 weeks now and am happy to report that the effects have lasted. Not only am I not experiencing as much discomfort at night as I have been for YEARS, but I SWEAR this sucka calms my night time bladder. I had no idea this simple mattress topper with the nice pattern would work so well. The last week I have stopped taking the liver-destroying ibuprofens before bed. I no longer need it to get a decent, pain-free nights sleep. I can't guarantee you will have such great results, but if you are desperate and really need relief its worth the try. Had I known about this thing before, I would have saved the 2grand on the fancy-but-my-ass-hurts-all-night mattress and just bought 5 of these to sleep on. If you got $200 bucks and a deep, gnawing desire to stop rolling around your bed at night like a mad person trying to find relief, go for it. Your back, bladder, liver, kidneys and stomach just might thank you for it. I'll update in a few weeks to let yall know if this keeps up. Hope this helps.

No more back pain after only 3 nights
I have been dealing with lower back pain and tightness over the past few months due to a too firm mattress. I explored other options, mostly foam mattresses like Casper and Leesa. I grew cautious when I read reviews of people who had them a year or more. The felt the foam was breaking down. Plus, they are a new category of product and no one knows how they will hold up 5 years from now. I noticed that the high end versions tend to have memory foam on top of an inner spring system for long term support and durability. i.e. Leesa Sapira. My current mattress is in excellent shape, has an inner spring, but is just too firm. I then decided to look at memory foam mattress toppers. I was impressed by the reviews the UTTU received on Amazon. I also liked the two layer ventilated design because I did not want a topper that retained body heat. I could not be more pleased. My bed is now unbelievably comfortable and my back pain is gone in just 3 nights. All for a very reasonable price of $169.
