Just pop in a Verizon SIM card and it guides you through the whole process. If not just call customer service from the phone with your new sim. **Q: I personally have this phone and love it; I want to get it for my son as well. Is it new, used or refurbished? Warranty?** A: It would be a great item to get your son. I do think that they are either refurbished or used. But make sure to get one that says "like new" or "very good". I purchased mine and it was in "very good" condition, one step under "like new"...but when I got it, it literally looked like someone opened a brand new box and just put the phone in another box.
