In syria, I carried large amounts of local currency due to inflation and the pouch held it no problem whilst also keeping everything slimline and therefore taking up a small footprint in my bag. It's become my main travel wallet now. The only improvement i would add is a compartment inside the main pocket, like a separator so I can keep cards and dollars/gbp separate from local currency.
