What colors are in the set?

Introductory kit of 6 that I purchased contains: Titanium White; Yellow Ochre Deep; Yellow Lake; Scarlett Lake; Burnt Umber; Ultramarine Blue. Michael Harding paints were recommended by several portrait artists and they switched to these paints. The paint company provided the supplies to the artists, however the response in general was very favorable and they continue to use them. The texture is "buttery" and easy to work with as they develop the portraits. Hope this helps.

Do these paints have much odor or smell when used alone without solvents?

Hello: There is an odor with or without solvents. I noticed that when I use medium the paints do go on easier, and blend well. I have used paints without solvents but find the results not as satisfactory. There are a couple of suggestions - make sure the room is well ventilated (the weather is nice so opening windows will help - also contact Michael Harding website as they may have online customer service people who will be better able to address your questions. My first set of oils having moved on from acrylics. Couldn't be more pleased. I add a touch of linseed oil to thin just a tad. Really lovely to work with. Very smooth. A little goes a long way. The colors and pigment load are exceptional. Highly recommend.
