This will prevent the paint from contacting the metal surface, so it will never be able to adhere. In order to paint, you would need to break the Polar Bonding™ between CorrosionX and metal. The best means to do this reliably is with MEK; other solvents (paint thinners, etc.) are often not strong enough to break that bond.
