This book would be very useful for someone who wants to know more about the Montessori principles. It is set out in a very clear and practical way and is a great guide to helping young children to become independent and conscientious at an early age. I have studied the Montessori Early Childhood Diploma for older children and worked with 3-5 year olds, but still found this very useful for home life with my toddler.

Started my love with the Montessori Philosophy for Education
I have read several books on Montessori and this was the first one from that list. It's a small and easy read yet covers the core principles of Montessori philosophy quite well. I would strongly recommend this for anyone who isn't familiar with the ideology and wants to get a whiff of what it's all about!

Surely Ours is Amazing
I bought this glossy, easy to read book for my daughter who has a two year old and expects another soon, but naturally I hoped to brush up my own rusty skills and discard some of the faulty parenting that might explain some glitches that occurred over the years. Seldin explains the Montessori approach persuasively and left room for common-sense and intuition. I now see where we went wrong those years ago was partly that we lacked monumental patience as parents nor had enough room space. But hey now we are grandparents we might well try the excellent play routines in the book. It'll give the kids a laugh.

Fabulous
I trained as a Montessori teacher in the late 1980s and I've always had huge faith in the system - my eldest son went through the Montessori system and was one year ahead of his age group by the age of 4!! This was a present for a very dear friend of mine, whose instincts were already on course, without the background knowledge. So I'm hoping this book will add that and help her apply her instincts/intuition even more usefully.

This book was recommended to me by my sister-in-law who is very much into Montessori stuff. It contains many high-quality photos and describe the ideas of how to organise Montessori-inspired home. Very good practical book.

Well Done Intro Level Montessori Book
I am the Head of School of a small Montessori school in Florida and I was recommended this book by another Head of School as a great book to give to parents of newly enrolled students. I often have parents ask me about which Montessori books to read. I have read many of Dr. Maria Montessori 's classic texts and found them to be very dense and neuroscience focused (e.g. the first half of The Absorbent Mind is enough to put many laypersons to sleep). Its not that the information isn't good, its just not immediately applicable, concise, and convenient for parents of young children who have very little free time to read. I just finished this book and love it! There is fantastic information in an easy to digest format. I have chosen this book to give to all of my families for the coming school year as an introduction to Montessori education and how to set up your child's at home environment to match what we do at school. We will be discussing the book throughout the school year at our parent workshops. Very excited to get this started!

Money well spent
Easy to read, fun and full of great information. As a mother of 2, time is very limited, especially time to read...but this book is like a crush course of the Montessori world. Hope you all enjoy it as much :)

Not too much about babies, but for toddlers and a bit older kids it is perfect
I bought the book in a search for some pedagogical aid that will guide me through the education and the development of my child. I like the approach of M.Montessori, so I decided to buy a book and inform myself more about her style, also to see which of her recommendation I can use and what I prefer to do it differently. The book is nicely written, clear and illustrative. I definitely recommend it as a reading literature, of course everyone should decide if he is taking the advices and up to which level.
