I've been suffering with a painful ulcer on the left underside of my tongue for about a week. Every time I went to talk, eat, swallow, breathe... it hurt. The pain was so bad that it ran all the way up to my ear, down into my jaw and neck. I got a prescription for a triamcinolone dental paste, which I started applying yesterday, but today, the ulcer was still painful. I used this over top, and it has felt infinitely better. The combination of the steroid to help it heal faster plus this stuff to numb the pain is an absolute game changer. I will say that the claims of it lasting 6 hours are pretty overblown. It's been about 2 hours and I'm ready for another application. Location in the mouth may impact its lasting power though, so there may be areas where the effect is longer lasting. Absolutely love that it really does seem to create a protective barrier/liquid bandage over the wound, although it stings like the dickens when you first apply it. Although it's a tiny tube, you only need such a small amount that you likely won't use the whole tube before it expires. So despite seeming a bit expensive for the size, it's more than enough for a couple years' worth of canker sores or mouth irritation if you're not a frequent sufferer. Super easy to apply - I actually put a small dot on the end of a cotton swab and then gently dab and pat it into place. To let it dry without getting it all over the rest of my mouth, I did have to stand there with my mouth awkwardly open and my tongue pinned to the opposite side of my mouth, but it's a small price to pay for almost immediate relief. It truly does stick well to a canker sore, even though the oral mucosa is wet. Will use this again and again, but hoping that I don't have to for a long time because... ouch. Here's hoping the same for you.

If you deal with painful canker sores, this product is worth keeping on hand. It provides fast relief by creating a protective barrier over the sore, which helps reduce pain from eating, drinking, and talking. I noticed it stayed in place much longer than some other treatments I've tried, so I didn't have to keep reapplying it throughout the day. The application can sting for a few seconds, but that quickly fades and is replaced with noticeable pain relief. I developed a terrible canker sore right under my tongue I couldnt talk or eat I struggled to swallow even liquids. It was about a third of a Q-tip deep and about 2 Q-tips wide. As soon as I applied this I did have a slight burn for a split second and then I felt absolutely nothing. The relief I felt was an absolute blessing. I was able to talk, eat and drink without any pain. It doesn't last 6 hours, at least it didnt for me. I'd say it lasted about 2. I was using other numbing products which I was unaware you could overuse and they lasted about 5 minutes at most and they really didnt numb it, just took the edge off. If you ever develop a canker sore I highly recommend this. You will feel such a relief and be completely pain free. My only complaint is the size of the tube and the consistency. Its similar to honey. I'd highly recommend applying to the tip of a Q-tip and holding for a few seconds. It will harden eventually if it gets on your teeth so you may have to go in and scrape it off. If I had known how small the tube was I would have purchased 2. Canker sores typically take 1-2 weeks to heal and if used a few times daily this will not last 2 weeks. That however, does not make this product any less amazing.

I hit my gum with a toothbrush which resulted in a canker sore. It has been so painful for 4 days now. I dont salt rinse and the red liquid that numbs but never stays numb. The sore is in a very tight and uncomfortable spot. So i used this and it created some kind of paste that hardens. I must say it doesn't hurt anymore but feels like i have a extra layer of skin in my mouth. Very odd feeling but its supposed to promote healing and the pain has subsided for now

Follow the directions on the tube. The box directions are not descriptive. Apply with accuracy. THIS WILL BURN/STING like the hair on your chest and tears in your eyes. The stinging lasts for about a minute. Allowed to dry for that time before closing your mouth, otherwise it taste worse and gets messy. It applies a coating over the canker sore and protects it from food, teeth abrasion, liquid irritants etc. It lasts for about 3 hours. IT STARTS THE HEALING PROCESS! While the primary focus in the ingredients is Benzocaine, the alcohol and salicylic acid as inactive ingredients clean and treat it (this is not claimed in the description). It’s comes down to a choice- Would you rather have two plus weeks of miserable pain of a canker sore OR would you rather experience a week worth of throbbing pain for about four minutes a day and peace for the rest of the day? IT WORKS!!!!!! Gave 4 stars due to taste and stinging BUT ITS WORTH IT
