I purchased this last December (2024), by February 16, 2025 I had to reach out to Kenmore warranty services because the brush roll was not staying connected to power (green light went off and you could tell by the sound it was not spinning). They said it was a newer model so they did not have parts to ship out, and instead would have to ship me a new one. However, it took from February 16 until April 2 for it to arrive, and to submit the warranty request I had to cut the power cord and send them a picture of it, so they would send the new vacuum. So I couldn't even use it without the end just to suck up dirt and pet hair- this was not ideal. The new one had been working fine until this week (January 27, 2026). It is doing the same thing, brush roll loses power connection and stops working. I contacted the warranty number again. Even though I just received this vacuum on April 2, 2025 (so not even a full year ago) they go off the date of original purchase (the first BROKEN vacuum). The gentleman on the phone informed me I could purchase a replacement wand for $38, but that they had been back ordered and he wasn't sure how long it would take to ship to me. He also informed me that this model is discontinued - I know why!! It is clearly faulty. Do not waste your money. I am so disappointed and feel scammed by Kenmore. Review: I like this vacuum - This Kenmore DC5070 500 Series vacuum is a keeper. I hope it lasts as some comments say it didn't and they had trouble with it. Vacuuming is not high on my housekeeping to-dos but I have a dog that sheds quite a bit. I wanted a lightweight, bagless canister (I tried others) and this fit the bill. It is more quiet than my older Kenmore bag canister, one of the first things I noticed, other than the sturdiness of the vacuum itself. I like the great suction and the fact that the wand components click securely together. Decent cord length, longer than some others. The motorized nozzle has a light so I can see under the bed (someplace I could not vacuum with my upright) as well as everywhere else I go with it and being motorized and swivels make the job easier. It's convenient that I don't have to change the nozzle between floors or carpets. However, this vacuum does not like high pile carpet but the small brush, that conveniently fits on the back, does a decent job because of the great suction, just takes a little longer because it's smaller. My home is mostly floors with a few throw rugs so this is not a huge problem for me. Storage is easy as it hooks together to move as one piece. Lastly, the downside of bagless vacuums is the hair and dirt that needs dumping. This too is easy enough and it has a large capacity dust cup to handle my needs. No I do not like the dirt that may need to be wiped out afterwards, but that's to be expected with a bagless vacuum of any brand. I have an extra set of filter pads so I can immediately switch them out and not have to wait for them to dry after rinsing.

Read before you buy! Broke after 5 months
Bought this in Feb and it stopped working in July. The sweeper seemed to have a broken connection and would not work. Since it was past the return window I had to reach out to the manufacturer. After a lengthy call I had to send a form, pic of the vacuum with the cord cut (so that it was truly unusable) so that they could send me a new vacuum. The timeframe they gave me was between 25-30 days to receive my new vacuum. We are on day 27- still no vacuum. I have been thru so many vacuums in the last 10 years. Every single one has stopped working or broke all within a year or two. I’m still in search of one that is a quality piece. So frustrating. And yes, initially this vacuum worked well, the filter gets filthy after the first use (we have a dog). The chamber was easy to empty/ but as all the bag less vacuums it has the dust cloud upon emptying. Not a fan of all airborne dirt even if you are very careful. Update 12/2025. We finally received the replacement vacuum at exactly 30 days. After 4 months use the motor stopped working, then after a few tries it would stop intermittently. Then the same problem as the last time occurred again, the sweeper stopped working. Assuming it’s the wires in the handle were severed again. I contacted Amazon directly and demanded my money back. This was by far one of the worst purchases we’ve made on Amazon. Clearly a major design flaw.

Works for ALL rugs, even Ruggables!
So far this is the best vacuum I’ve owned in YEARS. I’ve had Sharks, Dysons, Bissels, and everything else in between. All of them work for most everything, but then there’s just one thing in the home it doesn’t work well with (like washable rugs, or getting the stairs, etc.) this one does it ALL. It has a suction adjustment lever, and 2 speeds/heights of the beater bar. It allows easy switching between the various flooring in my home, and it truly can handle my Ruggables, carpets, and hard floors with ease. No other vacuum I have owned adjusts so easily. It also hasn’t developed an odor like my others did within a week of use. I was originally put off by the bad reviews, but realized the hair and traditions bagless were all lumped into 1, and I wish they would separate it online. When you filter through, the hair eliminator has raving reviews across the board,

It stops working after 2.5 months but cust svc at Kenmore was awesome to root cause issue to fix
I bought it on 10/25. Today- not even 3 months later- it stopped working. I was using it and I noticed a burnt smell and it stopped. Junk. Update- user error- called Kenmore Cust Svc and they were awesome. He walked me thru checking some stuff and it was due to a clog because I picked up some leaves from my plant. The machine shuts down so it does not overheat. He helped clear it and we are back to riding the broom around the house. She is back to her original very effective and sucking up stuff self. I gave it a 4 cause I think they could have used less plastic and more metal to keep her working long term. But it’s the way it is these days.
