The "First Steps" Bar
1. Stability & Build Quality The Triangle Base: The bar uses a standard triangle-base design with rubber floor pads. For a 40-lb child doing a pullover, it is rock solid. The Wobble Factor: As children get heavier (approaching 70-80 lbs) or skills get more dynamic (swinging hard), the bar will lift off the ground or wobble. This is simple physics for a lightweight, foldable bar. You can mitigate this by placing sandbags on the legs, but it is a limitation of the design. Weight Limit: The manufacturer claims a 140 lb weight limit. In reality, while the steel bar might hold that weight without bending, the base will likely tip over if a 100 lb child swings on it aggressively. Realistically, treat the effective limit for swinging skills as ~75-80 lbs. 2. Adjustability & Storage Height: It adjusts easily between 35" to 51" using a pin-lock mechanism. This range is perfect for toddlers up to about 2nd grade. Folding Mechanism: This is the bar's best feature. Unlike professional bars that are bolted permanently, you can pull up on the connecting rods and fold this unit flat against a wall. If you have a small playroom or apartment, this feature alone makes it a winner. 3. The "Included" Accessories The Mat: Most listings include a mat, but manage your expectations. It is usually a thin, yoga-style mat, not a thick crash mat. It will protect the floor from scratches, but it will not protect your child from a fall. You will almost certainly need to buy a proper 4-inch crash mat separately. Bar Pad: The kit often includes a foam wrap for the top bar. This is essential for protecting little hips from bruising during hip circles. Should You Buy It? YES, IF: You have a child (ages 3-7) who just started gymnastics classes and wants to show you their "tricks" at home, or if you need a bar that hides away in a closet when not in use. NO, IF: Your child is a competitive gymnast (Level 3 or higher), weighs over 80 lbs, or is practicing high-velocity skills like kips and back hip circles. For them, you need a heavy-duty, non-foldable bar with a wider base.

Easy to assemble and move!
This is such a great bar for beginners. I'm sure as my kiddo advances it will still help. It also holds me as well! Granted, I don't do any flips but it did hold me up with no issues (and Im almost 30, 5ft4, and 170lbs)! So its sturdy. I think this is a great combo (since it comes with a mat) even if the mat isn't THE best. It's absolutely worth the price and I really like that it folds up as well. It's obviously not completely flat but it is super easy to put away so its not sitting out in the middle of the living room. It's easily movable! Win win in my book!

A great way to provide some muscle and core development and fun too!
Wow, easy to put together in just minutes and amazingly sturdy! I was pleasantly impressed with the stability and quality of the pieces and once assembled our little grans (2 yr and 5 yr) were taking turns swinging on the bar and attempting to do the over the top moves. Even with both of them hanging on at the same time the unit stayed steady showing no signs of flex. Easy to fold up and move out the way as well. Based on the 5 year's old determination to get up and over the bar it looks like it will provide years of muscle development. Great idea to keep them exercising now that the colder weather has arrived.

A strong gym
A strong unit for young gym users. Easy to put together and seems durable for a lot of use. Adjustable for different sized kids and comfortable grips on the bar. Nice padding for under the unit for safety.

Great bar, donโt get the mat.
Love the bar, donโt get it with the mat. I wish I had dug more deeply into the reviews for that, the mat is flimsy and a waste of money. Otherwise my seven year old loves the rest of it! Easy to fold up and store, holds up well, very easy to put together.
