UPDATED REVIEW ON 8/18/2025 (purchased kettle on 05/05/2024, so have had Ascot glass kettle for 1 year 3 months). We love this glass kettle still BUT the metal base inside now has a clear rust spot. I tried instructions to boil water/vinegar mixture (equal parts) and then let sit. The rust spot is still there no matter and cannot be scrubbed away. We are being very careful to not leave any water sitting in the kettle but are very disappointed and do not feel comfortable to keep using this kettle with a rust spot clearly showing - we cannot be sure that now that the stainless steel bottom inside base has been breached that nasty metals might be leaching into our boiling water because of this. I'm placing this review and getting ready to contact Ascot via their website and may update after. We had gone through SO many glass tea kettles trying to avoid heavy metals/plastic, etc., and THIS was the one recommended by a website I follow and trust (Mamavation). It was pricier than the ones we have gone through over the years but we felt it was worth it. Having to buy a new one every 1.5 years of even the no plastic/no lead/etc. is very disheartening. ORIGINAL REVIEW: We've had this kettle for about 4 months now after having had so many glass/no plastic electric kettles fail on us after less than a year or two. This one was recommended by someone I follow stating it was lead-free. We use it several times daily for hot water for coffee but since April, it's getting almost double daily use making hot water to make sugar water nectar for the hummingbirds. You have to remember to NEVER grab the lid without a pot holder, as the ring on the top is super hot. Otherwise, it's the most attractive glass tea kettle we've had yet - it works fast enough for our purposes, and we really hope it holds up to our regular usage. One other note would be that the spout is all glass - you do have to be careful to not bang/bump it onto anything hard!

I purchased this in 2020 and absolutely LOVED it so when it died a few days ago, I was ecstatic to find out that Ascot still made this kettle. The others, let's face it, are so boring to look at. Ascot offers a specific style that's harder to find. That being said, this replacement, is AWFUL! Of course, it's beautiful, but that's where it ends. The previous model, before it started showing its age, would heat to a boil within 2-3 minutes. This one? 8 minutes and 4 seconds, yes I timed it. What is the point of using an electric kettle when you can do the same thing in that amount of time on the stove? The point, is getting it done quicker. Add that to the awful egg fart smell coming from this thing. 🤢 One use and it somehow smells worse. Ok so next thing, after noticing some air bubbles around the bottom where the glass meets the metal, while inspecting, water starter pouring out of the bottom. Well that can't be good. 🤦🏻‍♀️ This is atrocious quality, especially for the money. Previous version lasted 6 years. What happened?

I have researched and purchased many electric kettles and this is the one. It is hands-down the best electric kettle I have every owned. As an avid tea drinker, I needed an electric kettle to easily keep the tea flowing. I wanted a kettle that was non-toxic. I did not want plastic, even BPA free plastic in contact with the water. This kettle fit that requirement. Water only touches glass and the lid is stainless steel. I also wanted a kettle that really boiled the water. As this kettle is glass, I can easily see that it boils fully to ensure a proper cup of tea. Finally, I wanted a kettle that was attractive. This kettle is beautiful. Whenever a person enters the kitchen, she will inevitably say, "What a pretty kettle and I love that you can see the water boil." As a person who has purchased many kettles and has had kettle dissatisfaction for a long time, I am finally in kettle nirvana. This is the one. Buy this kettle. It is what you have been looking for. I bought this same article 5 years ago and loved it. Then I hit the spout accidentally while filling it and it broke. I had hoped just to get a replacement glass carafe but that is not an option so I reordered the whole thing. They have redesigned it slightly, including the base (which is probably why I couldn't just buy the glass carafe), and it doesn't seem to fit so well; you have to set it dead on the fittings whereas before you could slide it around a little. In addition the older version had a neon blue light that went on inside somewhere when it was turned on, now the light is a tiny white dot located at the end of the lever that you push down to turn it on. If this thing is sitting on a white countertop, you cannot see it. And in daylight you can't see it period, which really defeats the whole point of having it in the first place. Of course you will notice eventually that it is heating but I still think this was not a design improvement and it should not have changed (based on the theory if it isn't broken, don't fix it). Still looks gorgeous in my kitchen, I use it multiple times a day (being a tea drinker), it still heats up way faster than in a kettle on the stove top. I just wish they wouldn't mess with what was a perfect design. And a replacement glass carafe would be a responsible thing to offer as the base is far less likely to break than the glass (which was entirely my fault). Just saying.

I am absolutely blown away by my new kettle! I was a bit skeptical at first, but this thing is a GAME CHANGER. Not only does it boil water faster than any kettle I've ever owned, but it's also incredibly easy to use and clean. The design is sleek and modern, and it looks great on my countertop. But what really sets this kettle apart is its performance. It's so quiet and efficient, and it gets the job done in no time. I've been using it nonstop since I got it, and I couldn't be happier. If you're in the market for a new kettle, STOP WHAT YOU'RE DOING AND BUY THIS ONE. Trust me, you won't regret it. It's worth every penny and then some. 10/10 would recommend!"

It's been nice, but after a little bit it started flaking on the bottom. I can't tell if it's a coating on the metal flaking off or mineral buildup from spring water.

I bought this model first in October of 2022, and absolutely loved it. We used it multiple times per day, and it worked flawlessly and looked beautiful. Unfortunately, we somehow got a chip in the pouring spout and needed to replace it. I ordered the second in 2024 (same model, both from Amazon) and its just not as good. The lid of the previous kettle didn't fit this one---slightly off so it would rattle. (No big deal, it came with its own new lid, just a slight annoyance bc we wanted to change to the black lid handle and it's a pain.) But the kettle doesn't sit as well on the stand. The pouring is not as smooth. And when we completely empty it between uses, there are two issues. The first is that there's a slight lip around the base of the spout that makes it much harder to get rid of all the water. Secondly, the whole clear glass kettle stays condensed. It's just not pretty on the counter anymore. So, long story short, it still boils water, so it does what it's supposed to. But I'm not in love with it like I was the first one, which is a shame for something that's not cheap. Oh, we also noticed the light-color change when boiling, and we prefer the old one!
