This sauce reminds me a little of Taco Bell Fire sauce, but without that strong ketchup taste. Taco Bell’s sauce tastes too much like ketchup to me. Palo Alto XXX Ghost has zero ketchup flavor. You taste more of the actual peppers, and it definitely has more heat than Taco Bell’s version. It does not burn your mouth, but you still get flavor and some heat at the same time. The spice level is not insanely hot and it is not very intense, especially for something labeled XXX Ghost Pepper. The consistency is good. It flows well and might even be a little thicker than Taco Bell sauce. I am not a huge Taco Bell fan, but this sauce reminds me of it a little based on the flavor and the way it looks, just elevated. The only disappointing part is that this is supposed to be Palo Alto’s hottest sauce. I am glad I read reviews and chose this one instead of a milder option, because I would have been let down. The label says XXX Ghost Pepper Sauce, so I thought it was going to be loaded with ghost peppers and be extremely hot. When you look closely, the words are styled differently, which feels a little misleading. I also bought Jersey Girl Scorchin sauce, which is another salt free and sodium free hot sauce, and that one is seriously hot. Compared to that, Palo Alto is more of an everyday, use on anything kind of sauce. I can put it on chips, eggs, or whatever without thinking twice. The Jersey Girl sauce is so hot that I have to mix it into food like tacos to calm it down. Palo Alto is more about flavor than extreme heat.

But don't be alarmed by the "XXX Ghost" on the label. It is a little bit hotter than the original but it's nothing close to the burn from a Ghost pepper. I buy this for the smooth and balanced smoky flavor that blends well with the enjoyable burn. This is a great sauce and my only regret is the price is a bit too high.

Awesome hot sauce with low sodium! My husband is hot sauce connoisseur and needs hot sauce on everything he heats. He said the heat level is great in this and he doesn’t feel “swollen” afterwards like he does with other high sodium hot sauces.

I'm in love with this sauce. It instantly moved into my top three sauces. Robust, smoky, balanced flavor. The ghost peppers aren't overwhelmingly hot, but add excellent flavor. Highly recommend trying this. I don't know why reviews are saying it doesn't have ghost peppers. Read the label, it does. Packaging was also really great (maybe even overkill), so I think they've remedied that problem .

Pretty tasty but it is the least hot "ghost pepper" sauce I've ever had. I had to double check the ingredients to make sure it even had any jolokia peppers in it at all.

This is my new favorite hot sauce. I've been buying Palo Alto firefighter hot sauce for years after discovering it in a Palo Alto pizzeria, but it was always a flavor sauce, not a hot sauce. I've never been able to tell a difference between the original and habanero, but they've really stepped up the heat with with the ghost chili version. I've been putting this on everything. To the reviewer who said it was false advertising for not having ghost chilis, Jolokia aka ghost chilis are listed in the ingredients list. Read.

This is a super versatile and yummy hot sauce. Add to salsa, stews, or hearty soups to kick it up or use it right out of the bottle on all kinds of food. I like it on barbecued corn or mac n cheese

Tastes like taco bell diablo sauce. Good value for price
