Edit: After a while, I've noticed a fair bit of wear and scratching on the bottom edge of my ejection port from cycling these through my gun. This is on a steel receiver of a Mossberg Maverick. My guess is the steel base and rim hasn't been annealed. Not so much. *by P***S on 18 October 2023* For the price, you get more snap caps per dollar than anything else I have found. There are extra primer inserts included in the box if the rubber wears out. The head of each round is made of light metal (brass or whatever the chrome equivalent is) as you would expect, and the case is a firm, thick plastic that is sturdy enough for under-stress loading practice, but just soft enough not to risk damaging anything you would be shoving these shells into. As a whole, these are very solid with a good weight to them. Loading is as smooth as doing it with real shot shells. However, in my limited experience, practice unloading via a pump shotgun did not go well at all. I have two brand new Winchester XSP Black Shadow 3" chamber 12 gauges that were recently purchased for my sons to use. These snap caps were intended to be the training rounds for loading and unloading practice. However, when pumping the shotguns to eject these snap caps, each one remained in the receiver and had to be manually extracted with fingers. I actually had one snap cap somehow flip around 180 degrees in the receiver rather than eject. My younger son managed to develop a method of twisting and shoving the gun whilst pumping which 'aided' the ejection process, but I did not encourage his newly discovered technique of "throwing out" the spent shell, lol. Just bad form. Both guns were brand new with sharp extractors. I ran standard clay, field and magnum loads through both guns, and both ejected spent and loaded real shells (when unloading) with ease. I've seen trick shot guys on YouTube use this exact same gun to eject spent shells high into the air then shoot those spent shells with the next shot, so the problem isn't with these guns. Perhaps the lip on these snap caps needs to be enlarged? Perhaps I'm misinformed about how shotgun snap caps are supposed to perform (I only have experience with pistol snap caps). Are they really not supposed to eject? I'm not sure. Hopefully the manufacturer / seller will reach out to me and make this right or at least provide some feedback as to where the issue might be. The product has a very solid feel, and I can tell much thought went into the materials and manufacturing process.
