Does this item also have a waist belt/strap?

No. This bag does not have a waist strap. It is designed to be worn over the shoulder or over your head and on your back. If you are needing a waist strap, I suggest this vendors leather fanny pack. It too is of excellent quality.

There has been no rust problems on ours and we have purchased three of them. However, they have not been exposed to any water. We live in NC and the humidity hasn't affected the metal parts at all. Hope that helps.
