The Border patrol is an easy to use, electronic, monitoring device comprising of one transmitter and one receiver unit which should be placed between 4 metres (13 feet) and 20 metres (65.5 feet) apart. An invisible, infrared beam forms between the two units when switched on, which if broken, sounds an alarm. This alerts a carer or someone else in the house that an elderly person or child has wandered, for example, from their bedroom at night or down the hallway to the front door. This helps the nearby carer/family member to ensure the person's safety and will discourage them from continuing on their way. Three volume level settings and alarm tones.
