Assembly required
This is a complicated product. It's a well designed product and works well. It requires shipment in four (4) very large and heavy boxes. It requires a lot of time to be assembled. The assembly instructions are excellent, and come in several languages. If you have experience putting together Legos, you can manage this (much larger scale) project. I was able to do the whole production by myself without anyone helping me. This required removing the parts from the boxes and carrying them into my house (and upstairs) carefully. Three boxes arrived and I had no idea there was a fourth box, so I contacted the vendor, who got back to me quickly to let me know the 4th box was going to arrive a few days later. This must be a very complicated item for the seller to manage. There's really no easy way to send this back, or even to discard it. The bed has gas springs that help you lift it up and down, into and out of the cabinet. It would be a challenge to manage otherwise, or of the springs stop working. Those springs make for an assembly challenge, since the bed won't stay down while partially complete. I had to sit on the frame while assembling it. You might be able to hold it down with cynder blocks or something similarly dense and heavy. Or you could build it with two people, which is probably the best way, if you can find someone with the patience for it. The bed is high when assembled, as in the height of the cabinet. You should measure the height of your ceiling before you order it. I didn't measure and it barely fit. I had to remove the (1/4") feet from the bed in order to get it to fit. That's tight!

Nice looking and easy to use, not so much to install.
This is a nice looking, sturdy murphy bed. It's also massive and takes some strength and skills to assemble. It came in 4 boxes, both large and heavy. The delivery guy helped me enter them in the room (which has a door on the driveway) otherwise it would have been already a problem. Overall it took me several days (not continuous) mostly by myself. A skilled and strong person can assemble it alone. Another person help in a couple of point doesnt hurt. Be aware that the instructions call for anchoring on the wall (against studs) AND on the floor (both on the floor itself and at the base of the wall). The problem with anchoring at the base of the wall is that the holes in the metal frame are pre-drilled, so if the holes are not (they won't be) corresponding to a stud and you do not have masonry or wood there you are out of luck. I opted to install just on the wall and the floor, and I think it should be enought. The final assembly of the doors is the most complicated part because the instructions are nor very detailed and because you have to drill and anchor the doors without knowing where they will actually be positioned. On customer service, I needed help with the instructions and a missing minor piece (one of the slats): in both case I was able to speak to the manufacturer's representatives (number provided) and they were able to explain what wasn't clear and send the replacement part free of charge (they actually sent 2). It's not everyday that you can speak to live person, so that's a strong quality point. TLDR: nice and sturdy but assembly is not for the faint of heart or the inexperienced.

Perfect to transform our guest room from office to bedroom in a flash
If you're on the hunt for a space-saving solution that doesn't compromise on style or functionality, look no further than the BESTAR Pur 65W Queen Murphy Bed in White. This piece of furniture has proven to be a game-changer in optimizing my living space, and I couldn't be more thrilled with its performance. First and foremost, let's talk about space efficiency. The Murphy bed design is a genius solution for those with limited space. The ability to fold the bed into the wall when not in use has transformed my room into a multifunctional space. During the day, I have a spacious and inviting living area, and at night, with a simple pull-down, I have a comfortable and roomy queen-sized bed. It's like magic! The cost-effectiveness of this Murphy bed is another standout feature. Compared to the cost of a traditional bed frame and mattress, the BESTAR Pur 65W offers incredible value. The quality of the materials used and the sturdy construction make it clear that this is an investment that will last. I appreciate the affordability without sacrificing durability or aesthetics. Functionality is where this Murphy bed truly shines. The smooth mechanism makes transitioning between day and night modes effortless. The integrated storage shelves are a thoughtful touch, providing space for books, decor, or personal items. The clean white finish adds a modern and fresh look to the room, seamlessly blending with any decor style. Assembling the Murphy bed was surprisingly straightforward, thanks to the clear instructions provided. The attention to detail in the design and engineering is evident, making the assembly process smooth and hassle-free. In conclusion, the BESTAR Pur 65W Queen Murphy Bed in White is a space-saving marvel that ticks all the boxes โ space efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and functionality. It has exceeded my expectations.

Pleasantly surprised
For background I'm a woman in my 40s, and was able to install this completely by myself in a few hours. The bed came in 4 huge very heavy boxes. I needed someone to help lift them into my house and in an adjoining room to where I wanted to install the bed. It is well packed with lots of cardboard and styrofoam surrounding the items. Nothing was damaged in transit. The material is particleboard, but very thick and study and when assembled it looks nice and is better quality than I was expecting. I have children and was worried about them being able to open it themselves, but the handles are high up, and requires adult strength to pull open and hold up while moving supporting bar around the mattress, my very strong 8 year old could not do independently. I was nervous to put this together by myself based on the reviews, but the directions were simple and easy to follow and required minimal tools. I used the mattress I had purchased to hold the bed open when required (while still in box), a second person was not actually necessary for anything other than lifting the boxes inside my home. I was also nervous about the mattress fitting and the 10 inch pillow top that I purchased fits with ease under the supporting frame. I do not think a thicker mattress will fit, however. Because I installed it on carpet I have to plane the bottom molding as it pops off when I open the bed due to the carpet height underneath. This wouldn't be a problem when installing on other flooring.

Takes considerable time and effort to install
On the positive, the unit seems to be well designed. The directions are well marked, but some of the parts are not. You need to do some extra modifications not in the directions. None of the threaded inserts fit in the holes provided. If you try to drive them in with a hammer as the directions tell you, you will break out or split the wood. You need to auger them out with slightly larger drill bit. Lot's of parts and hardware. Product is not dandy if you're not handy. An update to my previous ranking. Now that I'm finalizing my painstaking assembly and instal, I have found other issues. Support rod to legs came shipped with stripped threads and will not tightened. Baseboard was drilled wrong and will not fit. I will need to fabricate a new one. Also, you need to have a helper with very small hands to secure the bed frame pivots. Manufacturer could have made this a much better product without affecting the size of the shipping package had they done more pre-assembly before shipping.

Heavier than one would imagine.
Heavy, write that down. This is a very heavy, pretend wood, Ikea-like Bed. The instructions are just ok and leave a lot to be desired. You really need to study the small, yet detailed pictures to avoid a teardown-start-over situation in the frame. There are parts, significant parts left over which you will need to scour the manual to find out why they were not used. The pretend wood chips easily, but then all pretend wood chips easily. Once you're finished the minor wood chipping fades into the background. Notwithstanding, pretend wood of any variety or manufacturer feels like it is waterlogged, part of what makes this kit heavy. To the several "I'm a 40 year old female" who said it was easy and they finished it in one day - well I'm sceptical. The darned thing comes in 4 boxes and with packing weighs close to 400lbs. One box is 138 LBS, and this is a Queen size. Ok, 138 pounds is modestly challenging when it is on a bar with weights on either end, but this is a large cardboard box with no handles. I'm capable of lifting 100lbs but this is clumsy and myself and another man had to dead lift it to get it into my home. If you install this upstairs, have some extra help, Gatoraid and Pizza. The way this works is the visible part, the pretend wood does nothing to hold or support the bed, it is just a facade, a nice facade but not a structural component. To hold the bedframe in place, they provide massive bolts 4" (102mm) that you need to drive into the sill plate, 6 times. Don't start this without an impact driver. Wear hearing protection. The hardware holding the front panels seems weak to me, they give you 5 places to tie it into the metal bed frame but the screws just barely catch the pretend wood and strip easily, as pretend wood tends to do. Longer screws would have been better. The handles for the pull-down could use some fender washers to take some of the burden off the tiny screws. The bed pulls down with some effort and there is a lot of force on the small screw heads holding the front handles on the pretend wood. Also, about the parts - I called customer support and it said something about 5 minute hold. Ok, go about my work. Then the message came on and it said something about leaving a message and they were terminating the call. It said it in French but didn't complete before it hung up. I assumed I misheard and dialed back. The message said it would hang up after 5 minutes (!) but I can leave a message, right?? Nope, it hit's five minutes and drops the call. Amazing.

Easy to raise and lower, a great use of space.
This Murphy bed was a great choice for our very small (11x11) guest bedroom, that doubles as an office space. We added our own side tables and secured them to the bed. Our guests find the bed comfortable. I find it easy to transform the room. The desk is on wheels so we just roll it into another room, bring down the bed, and add pillows. It's very easy to raise and lower the bed. We've had it for 3 years, and we just sold the house. Sadly for us, it will stay since it's built in. The buyers are thrilled! I do plan on purchasing this bed again for our new house. It's so nice to have a guest room for when you need it, but that room doesn't have to sit empty when you don't have guests. One word of caution: it was a chore putting this thing together. It took my husband a whole weekend, with help. He is very handy. This is not an amateur project. Get help! It is worth the effort though!

Arrived damaged.
I do not like when people bundle a review about delivery in with the review of the item, but in the case of heavy shipped furniture, you almost have to as delivery is part of a product like this. This was shipped Fed Ex which already tells you the experience was bad. They left one super-heavy part wedged on our porch against our door which meant we could not get out - at all. At all. Had to go around and out through our back door - luckily we have one or we'd have been climbing out a window. My upstairs neighbor, however, was totally blocked inside his apartment - he had no way out. Really bad decision on the delivery person's part. It was also delivered days early which would normally be a good thing, but not when it's furniture and you need help with it! It was delivered totally without notice or warning. Luckily we were home - because a drop of rain and the whole bed would have dissolved, since it's all particle board and SUPER heavy. The upper corner of the right door and the front (visible) edge of the left side of the bed were both dented in and because it is particle board, it really shows. But the likelihood of receiving undamaged replacement parts, plus the difficulties of returning it, made us decide to keep it. We used Bondo and paint to fix the dings and hopefully it will hold up to occasional use. It took my husband - an engineer - two full days to assemble this bed, with help in lifting the heavier pieces. Don't even try to do it alone. Once assembled, it looks fine and works smoothly. It fits our 12" thick Tuft & Needle memory foam bed perfectly - that was actually reason for buying this particular bed, it allows for a thicker mattress than many we found, and our guest mattress was relatively new so we wanted to use it. We paid $1499 for this bed. I see it is now over $1800 and it's only been a few days since we bought it. I would NOT pay that much for this! At $1500 it is iffy, at $1800+ it's way over-priced.

Expect three large, heavy packages, and to allocate a few hours to assemble.
It's heavy, it takes a lot of work to put it together, and the instructions were sometimes vague, but I did it all without any help. The quality is excellent, and it looks and functions perfectly
