I have used computers since they had only floppy drives and hard drives were a thing of fiction and dreams. I have to say that this is by far the simplest computer to set up that I have ever purchased. The size had me a bit concerned - could it actually handle my data files, word processing, on line games, music and audio books - well the concern was un necessary. Not only did all the information from my large desktop fit onto the hard drive but the quality of the sound system has just blown me away and caused me to write this review. I am not saying that someone who is a true coinsurer of music would necessary find this to be the best but it certainly is much better than I expected from something this small and relatively inexpensive. Time will tell about the durability , etc. but for now I am beyond pleased and can't wait to get back to playing wow, lotro and other on line games that I use to fill long lonely days.

Pretty impressed so far. It's a bit bigger and louder than the Beelink I bought a year ago, but that is to be expected given that the specs are greater. It isn't loud, but you can hear the cooling fan when it runs. It supports three 8k monitors which is impressive. I use two 4k monitors and have not experienced any display issues. I primarily use it for Thinkorswim and the wifi has no problem keeping up with the large amount of data that the program constantly updates. It is fast enough to replace any standard desktop and could easily be used for gaming.

This is my fourth GMKtec mini PC, and at this point it’s safe to say I’m a fan. I’ve added the M5 Ultra to a lineup that already includes a G3 Plus, G9 NAS, and an M5 Plus. Each one has found a solid role in my setup. The G9 runs Homelab and NAS duties 24/7 without a hitch, while the G3 Plus serves as a reliable Windows 11 machine for my wife. The M5 series (including this Ultra) is where I do most of my tinkering—Linux installs, video editing, CAD/3D printing and Home Assistant projects. It handles all of that surprisingly well for such a compact system. Kdenlive is my choice for video editing and I have spent many hours on my G5 Plus editing without any issue. The new M5 Ultra is faster and quieter (no noticeable fan noise under load). It’s powerful enough to feel responsive under real workloads, but still efficient enough to run constantly without worry. For anyone looking to build out a small but capable home lab or just wants a flexible mini PC, GMKtec has been consistently delivering for my needs and is realistically all anyone should need for day to day computing. I will be using the older version, the G5 Plus, to experiment with Ollama and various local AI models. Maybe not the ideal solution, but certainly enough to tinker around with.

I was looking for a Windows replacement of my M4 Mac Mini. The computer is fast and initial set-up is very easy. There is no bloatware on the Windows 11 Pro that came with it. Very clean install! I am primarily using this computer to edit photos in Adobe Lightroom, create and print documents from Microsoft Word and watch videos from Youtube.

I've had this pc for about 2 months as I write this review. I mostly needed it for regular browsing, schoolwork, and occasional gaming. The specs are great for the price and I have not run into any issues with the sound and cooling. I love the compact size and it's speed. Here are some games I've been able to run smoothly: Sims 4 with cc mods, Black Desert Online low graphics, Genshin Impact high graphics, and Roblox high graphics. I attempted to run Overwatch, but it was very choppy, although, the low quality of my temporary monitor could have been a contributing factor. I've also been unable to use Bluetooth devices with the PC, which was not a big deal for me since there are ample USB ports. The devices I've tested were paired, but simply did not work when connected to the PC. They were functional when tested on other computers/consoles in the house, so I'm not sure what the issue is. Still, I'd recommend this PC, you'll definitely get the best bang for your buck.
