wayfarer LC18102 tortoise

First time review. These sunglasses are very impressive. I have been wearing tortoise shell Rayban Wayfarers for the last 25 years. I love them, they break, they need to be replaced, such is life. I bought these as 'stunt sunglasses' to wear when I'm on vacation, so that if they fall off my face and into the ocean, or a lion's mouth, or a black hole, I won't be out the $$$ for my Raybans.First, the lenses are glass (unlike most Wayfarer-like sunglasses). I like the look, feel, and weight of glass lenses. Also, the lenses really are polarized. Second, the tortoise shell looks good. Most tortoise shell Wayfarer-like sunglasses look like garbage; the coloring is way off from the originals. These look fantastic and authentic. Third, the logo on the frames is a good size. It's understated, which is how (in my opinion) designed sunglasses should look; their style adds to your style. If you have some gaudy logo on the side, it detracts from the look. Additionally, they lack a logo on the lense, for good or ill. Fourth, the fit is good. It feels slightly different from my Raybans, but my Raybans are broken in and these are brand new, but they feel great. The hinges feel a little loose after a week, but everything is fine. Fifth, the price is fantastic. Can you find cheaper Wayfarers-like glasses out there? Absolutely. Will they look and feel cheap? My experience is yes. These look and feel the part. I hope they last a long time, but if they don't, I'll gladly replace them with another pair.UPDATE: I took these glasses on a three week vacation through Europe. They didn't break and they didn't scratch. These glasses are wonderful. I lost them at the DFW airport before making my last connection home. Tragic; they deserved better. Still, it was a lot easier to get over losing a $27.00 pair of sunglasses than losing my polarized Rayban Wayfarers for $130. To right the karmic injustice in the world, I bought another pair, and I promise to take much better care of them. Seriously, these sunglasses are great.

They don't fold all the way but the look is that of a much pricier pair of sunglasses.

The frames and hinges appear to be higher quality to similar glasses in this price range. But after attempting to clean the lenses with the supplied cloth, the inner coating is coming off. I noticed another reviewer experiencing the same issue. I will be asking the company to send me another pair. It’s possible these lenses are defective.

For money you can’t beat the quality, would of given 5 stars if item was as described, glasses are larger then they describe.

4.5 StarsFirst off besides stylish these are well made and have metal ribs going through the bows. The plastic material is as heavy as my vintage Ray Bans. The hinges on the bows are strong and heavy duty. The lens have minimal distortion. The one minus is that they don’t fold flat, but they fit in the glass case provided. I do highly recommend these at this price point.

These glasses are very nice. The acetate is beautiful, they are well-constructed, they look great. I wore ray ban original wayfarers 50mm for like 7 years... In comparison these are lighter (but not cheap light) and a little bigger, but noticeably bigger if you're used to original raybans. The one down side is this: the lenses are really light. You can see my eyes through them, and on a really bright day, they don't help much... Except for the polarization, the polarization works well. If you're going for style and strength... Go for it. They look great and you won't cry if you loose them. Might need some darker lenses eventually though.

Poor quality

When I picked these up, they were packaged nicely and the glasses, at first glance, felt and looked great. After a day or two of wearing them, I happened to place them upside down on a table and noticed they didn't sit flat - they were crooked. Now I scrutinized them on my face and, yes, they were definitely crooked. I had to lift them off one ear slightly to minimize this, which would have to be ok since I threw out the outer box with its bar code - unreturnable probably. A few days later, I cleaned them with the included cloth and noticed there was maybe an oily substance left behind. I tried cleaning them over again and it looked like the oil spread. After a few tries, I'm thinking it's not oil but a coating on the inner lens being rubbed off. No, I wasn't rubbing the lenses hard. So, they look and feel great, but I'm guessing that I just happened to get a dud pair, based on the other reviews. If the company would like to work with me on this, I'd be very happy.
