This base is really sturdy and was relatively easy to assemble. There was a point where having a second person would have made it a little easier to assemble but I did it by myself. The most impressive thing was the customer service and that is what is prompting me to do my first review after being an Amazon customer for roughly 25 years. I bought the umbrella through another company and Purple Leaf reached out to me when they didn't see an umbrella purchase through them and wanted to make sure the base fit and said to return the base if it doesn't fit! Long story short I ended up buying an umbrella through another company due to wife's preference on an umbrella size/color that was not in stock at Purple Leaf. Purple Leaf and I traded messages over several days and I was thoroughly impressed at how prompt, courteous and knowledgable they were. I vowed to write my first review based on the experience. In the end the umbrella fits perfectly and is great but I would have more peace of mind if I had bought the Purple Leaf umbrella. Thank you Purple Leaf!

This is an excellent base, easy to assemble and, when filled with water, is super stable and heavy enough to hold the PURPLE LEAF 9' X 12' Patio Umbrella securely. We live on the 11th floor with a terrace that gets strong winds. This base never tipped. It did develop a small crack (so only four stars for durability) and when I contacted Purple Leaf customer service by email and sent a picture and order details, I received a quick response and offer to send me a new unit which was shipped the next week at no cost to me. I work with many companies/vendors as part of my job and Purple Leaf is one of the most responsive I've worked with. Five stars for Purple Leaf products and service!

Great base that is surprisingly already assembled, but requires you to fill it with sand and water. I could not find a funnel with a large enough opening to be practical and the little plastic sheet thing clothes is useless so I ended up putting my sand in a 5 gallon bucket and slowly pouring that in to the reasonably large holes in the two chambers.. that worked really well and at the end I just had to blow/brush off the top since San poured around a bit. It seems really well constructed and much better than the cheap stand that came with my previous umbrella. That was a plastic vanity cover over a couple vinyl sandbags.

I got this base for a 11x11 Purple Leaf double top square umbrella per Amazon's recommendation. There is no instructions to fill the base, so I was frustrated at the beginning, but eventually could figure it out. After filling the base with water and sand, it became very heavy. It was not easy to spread the sand evenly, so I had to ask my son to help lifting the base up. I wish there are wheels for this umbrella base because I could not move it anymore in case I want to transfer the umbrella to another location to have more shades. This base could hold the umbrella pole steady although the double top umbrella was wobbling in the light wind.

excellent base weight/ballast. Very sturdy. Frame is fairly thick steel. Umbrella bolts to solid steel frame. Some of the hardware looks to be stainless steel and is very robust. Three options for weight. Sand, water or sand+water. I went for sand+water. Messy but fairly easy to fill. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND putting sand in FIRST then add water. Seems to be very sturdy plastic and should last a long time. Not perfectly "level" but can rest fat beverages on it. I will probably look for a small table to fit over it so space not wasted. It has a fairly large "footprint".

This umbrella and base set are very well made. It’s heavy, but that helps to keep it stable. Works great and will likely hold up well. Covers a wide area, providing shade and is easy to operate. Base is sold separately. This is something I missed when ordering. However, I got this in and out it together. Needed one additional person to place the umbrella on the stand. Be sure and tighten up the side valves before filling with water. They were loose out of the box. No mention of the two of them in the directions. I found them when they started leaking water. Easy fix to tighten them. I used a large coin, turning clockwise to stop the water. So far, it’s worked fine. Would recommend.

This product is EXCELLENT and Customer Service is incredible. Umbrella - gorgeous and extremely well made. For such a large umbrella (we bought the largest rectangle they make), too, I was surprised by how easy it is to open/close and to rotate 360 degrees. Customer Service - For some reason, my Umbrella came missing the 2 crank levers. It took only 1 email to the company for them to quickly respond. Impressively, they overnighted the 2 handles to me, and later checked back with me to ensure I received them and that everything was working properly. The person who worked with me was also extremely pleasant (and quite fun). While I love the umbrella, it is their Customer Service that won me over most.

This base hasn’t budged for over 5 years now. Solid and simple. And Purple Leaf is located in the USA and has excellent product support. I also bought their umbrella that goes with this base.
