I will start out by saying that I am a Brando-Sando groupie. I have immersed myself in most all of his books and lore. I thought that this game was super well designed to be fun, strategic and sticks to the lore of Mistborn. I would say it similar to several other deckbuilder games I have played. Not a whole lot different the main mechanics. What it does do differently is require the burning or flaring of metals to play cards. This adds a very strategic component to the game. This game operates well multiplayer, coop or solo. The RNG plays a huge factor in the difficulty of each play mode. I have played multiplayer, coop and solo where I dominated and other times, I got demolished. The design of the game is great where it provides the right balance of challenge. Not too hard or easy. It all just depends on what cards you are able to build your deck with. This would be a great gift for anyone who enjoys Brandon Sanderson's Mistborn novels as well as someone who knows nothing about them. Your background knowledge of the novels has nothing to do with being able to play the game. It is just cohesive with the world and lore in the book if you have read it.

I was nervous that this was going to be a mid-tier game with a Mistborn coat of paint on top of it. But I was happily surprised that it is actually a fun game! The cards themselves have some really cool artwork on them that can really bring the Mistborn books to life. The inclusion of Shan as a playable character was...interesting, and the color of her health dial and of Marsh's does not seem to fit. But other than that, the artwork is superb. The game is a bit complex and takes some time to learn and teach. This would not be a great game to learn if you haven't played a deck builder before. But once you understand the mechanics, it is fun to choose a strategy and try to defeat your friends. The metal-burning mechanic helps to limit the amount of actions you can do in a turn w/out making your cards feel useless, and at the end of my first game, all 3 players felt very close to a victory. I haven't played co-op mode or solo mode yet, but I am excited to try. Warning: The game mechanics and cards do spoil content from the first Mistborn books. Some card artwork and names spoil events or characters from Mistborn books 2 and 3; however, these are minor spoilers and someone who hasn't read the books would likely not realize the spoiler for what it was. Therefore, I only recommend this game to those who have read at least the first in the series.

I love the Mistborn series and really enjoyed the illustrations in this game. At the time, I've only played co-op and solo, but it's been very entertaining. The game contains heavy spoilers from the first book. It contains some images of the second and third book but without context I dont think they count as a spoiler. Maybe one or two cards could spoil some parts of the book if you look closely at them, with the exception of "Dominate", that card has a spoiler from the end of book 2. It takes some time getting use to the rules, and it's likely that you will need to play with the rulebook on hand on the first couple of games, but it's worth it.

Purchased after playing a friends copy. I was surprised at how high quality the materials for this game are. I have now played this game 7 times in the two weeks I’ve had it and it’s been a blast. It has a solo/co-op mode that is a ton of fun but also decently challenging, and then they also have a pvp mode that is insanely fun and is a great way to try out different character builds. Crazy amount of replay value for the price.

Very good game where the theme shines through if you have read the Mistborn books.

Fun deck builder that plays well in all player counts. The system of generating and expending metals ia an interesting twist on the deck building formula. Thought the mechanisms fit the theme really well.

We bought this for my son who LOVES Sanderson everything as a Christmas gift. He has taught the whole family how to play and it really is an awesome game. It is pretty advanced, not a game for young kids or people with no patience. But even I enjoy the game and I haven't read any of Brandon Sanderson's books, I also don't like to play board games. But this is one I will recommend.

This game is very much like the Mistborn series itself - complicated, a little confusing at first, but a lot of fun if you’re willing to have a little patience. Familiarity with the book series is not a must, but will definitely enhance your enjoyment, as the game is full of references to characters and systems from the Mistborn world. Takes between 1 to two hours to set up and play with two people, which we found to be the ideal number (some of the systems are a bit awkward with more players). The game also has co-op and solo modes, which are great for testing out different deck builds. Overall a good choice if you like deck builders and are a fan of the Mistborn series, but may frustrate players who prefer their games to be fast paced.
