Best cutter on the market!!!
Ok, this fry and veggie cutter is the beast. I've put russet potatoes through it, carrots, tomatoes, onions, jalapenos, celery, and a host of other fruits and veggies. I love the 1/4 inch ratcheting feature of this product because you destroy your food trying to push it through the blades all at one time. AND it has a blade guide to cut the food as it comes out of the blades!!!Now for some tips.... I've seen this item has gotten a few bad reviews, but only from the people not happy with how hard it is to put a sweet potato through it. Seriously, sweet potatoes are a chore to cut even with the best of knives, so I don't know if these people have a clue? Just put sweet potatoes in the microwave for 1 to 1.5 minutes and then run it through this cutter. Works perfectly with very little effort. There are some cons....You can't put a large potato in it whole. You have to cut a large potato in half and maybe in half again if it's a really big potato. However, that doesn't matter to me as I like 4 to 5 inch long fries. Also, tying to cut tomatoes or dice them is hit and miss. If you have a hard tomato, it works like a charm for salsa and the like. But if you have a soft tomato, it will mush, leak, and turn your ripe tomato into salsa on the spot, hahahaha...Don't get me wrong, the blades are very SHARP, but soft tomatoes will never go through it like you might like. And here is why I give it 5 stars...1) The ratchet motion is invaluable from the stand point that it gives you 1/2 inch increments which you can dice your veggies in precise increments.2) The blades on both 3/8 and 1/2 inch cutting surface are LETHAL. They will rip through your skin like soft butter.3) The plastic is very heavy / durable to handle the toughest of veggies, sweet potatoes need a quick nuke, but nothing else needs prep.4) Did I mention the ratchet action? lol... Hey, lets face it, with other types of veggie cutters you just apply as much pressure as needed to cut the food. So what does this mean? It means you apply too much pressure and bend or crack or break your cutting blades. Since this unit only allows a 1/4 inch at a time to come through, you can tell when a veggie just isn't going to go through, and you can take steps to soften the veggie, or cut it smaller to fit though the cutter.Seriously, just forget about all the cutters out there, this one is the REAL DEAL. You will never break or bend a blade on this unit, well, unless you're just stupid. Most normal people will find this product perfectly flawless. I mean seriously, who tries to get their whole weight of a 100 pounds or more to PROVE they cannot put a dry hard sweet potato through it? Use your brain and nuke the sweet potato first, eh?I'm sure anyone who has a bad review for this product is because they are not using their heads.I highly recommend this item, and it is priced at a nice point. Not expensive, and it's not cheap. The plastic will never break if you're a normal person, and the blades will last a life time IF YOU'RE A NORMAL PERSON with normal needs, hahahahahaha....Just don't be an idiot trying to stand on the thing if your veggies aren't going through as easily as you think they should. Use common sense and adjust how you want to put your food through it.I just love this thing, and you will too.

great device. safe price
Overall I am delighted and impressed. Precise, very well thought out and well cast of rigid plastic, which I knew. If you force it too hard, it will flex. Need to to be cautious at first. Carrots, large, are best done lengthwise, with the grain but not against. I am curious about doing onions. Again the grain may be an issue. It helps to be open minded with respect to hardness and grain as with sweet potatoes. This frencher/dicer is for home use and probably not robust enough for food service.I got this because I use a lot of potatoes in my vegetable soups. I love the ratchet and dice.I think that JoeCool's comments are spot on. All of the other comments are very helpful as well. I look forward to the YouTube videos. For the price this item exceeds my expectations and gets 5 stars. This item may not meet everyone’s needs and expectations.

Worked great until it didn’t
Loved how this made the perfect size French fries for my air fryer. It worked great until it didn’t. Ended up getting what I refer to as a death potato when the blades broke free halfway through a potato and were stuck in the potato.

Works wonderfully for Cornish Pasty!
I wish I would’ve had this years ago! Makes easy work of dicing potatoes and saves a lot of time and effort. I’ve diced through about 100 pounds of potatoes in just the few short weeks I’ve owned it and it hasn’t dulled or malfunctioned at all. Today I diced rutabaga with ease, but did slice them in 1” x 2” long slices first, because they are very hard and dense. Onion works ok, but the layers can get hung up in the blades. Highly recommend for uniform diced potatoes in record time without cutting your fingers!

Awesome slicer!
This is perfect for slicing veggies! Red Potatoes is my favorite...Olive Oil, Onion Powder, Garlic Powder and grated Parmesan cheese...can't go wrong!

Cut potatoes and other vegetables without problems!
You can eat french fries tonight! This small plastic and metal kitchen tool is a perfect solution your kitchen chores. You can make two different sized fries, or dice potatoes effortlessly, in minutes. I no longer anticipate the chore of cutting up veggies; I rely on this gadget. It is easy to clean; goes into the dishwasher, or at times can merely be rinsed off!!! I am so thrilled to have made this purchase.

Terrible, do not purchase
We read and followed all instructions included with product. Purchased it to make French fries. It is made of a very hard plastic, which appears sturdy and would be worry free. That is, if you could actually cut a potato. It would not take a medium sized potato. Both ends had to be cut off to enter the machine. I consider myself to be fairly strong, but could not even begin to push the handle down. I enlisted my husbands help, who is very strong, and he was barely able to push the handle down. We do not have the original box or packaging to return. So will be donating to a local cause. It is unusable to us. If you do like I did, and ignore the reviews, you will be sorry.

Blade pushed out - customer support non existent
I’ve used a bunch of these.. This is actually made by Hamilton Beach. Thought it looked decently made but the blades broke easily when pushing through a softened sweet potato while making steak fries ruining the fries…As well my wife couldn’t stand the jerking from the ratcheting handle. She said it felt like it’s going to break. This item is only a few weeks old & now I can’t even get a replacement blade because the customer service page is garbage. There is thousands of items of which this chopper is not listed… I just spent 35 mins trying to get customer support.Save your money

Super easy to use, does a good job
Love this for fry making at home. Can even make them one handed, rejecting fries straight into the air fryer bin.My only complaint is with cleaning the blades. Potato skin tends to stick around the corners, and can be hard/tedious to get the little pieces out. Need to use a sharp pointed blade to get in the corners. Feels like a better solution could be had, but not sure.Overall, very satisfied.

Excellent french fry cutter
Saw great results with my Dad's cutter and had to have one of my own. Very simple operation: press a good-sized potato against the (very) sharp cutting grid and let the tool's ratcheting action take care of the rest. Pumps out evenly cut fries in seconds. Sure beats cutting fries by hand and works well with an air fryer. Much prefer the large cutting grid to the small one. If you like fresh-cut fries, this is the tool for you.
