Perfect indoor/outdoor camera that does it all
What a wonderfully executed product. For me the ability to create a local camera account on the device so I can use it with Blue Iris as well as the Tapo app are key. Everything about it is great, long wifi range, nice long cable and waterproof connection. Love it. Easy to set up, easy to use, Night vision is good but isn't even needed unless in total darkness. In fact the image quality is much better just leaving night boost off. Compatible with everything. Can't go wrong with this.

Great 2K quality and easy remote access
Great camera with very clear 2K video quality. I use it in my business and it has been very reliable. The Tapo app makes it easy to check the camera anytime from anywhere. The alarm feature works well and can be customized to go off when someone enters or only at night. Overall, it is easy to use, has good image quality, and is a great option for extra security.

Great security camera and excellent easy to use software.
These are great little cameras and the software app is very good. Looks more like and indoor cam but works great outside even at night. The starlight option makes video at dusk very clear. The IR night vision works well too. I added extra IR lights to give clearer night time video because everything bad happens at night. I tried another TAPO camera, the C520 and I like this better. The C520 has a patrol mode and can pan and zoom and follow people if you want that but the picture on this at night is slightly better. It is pretty wide angle too and setup and connected easily. Interesting, when I bought a second C121 camera to replace the C520, it had a slighly hazy image. I tried to reach out to support to see if there is an easy way to clean or refocus it, but that was seeming like a waste of time, so I just returned it. Interesting that the replacement I just got didn't have any plastic film over the lense like the other 2. So maybe it was a return too but it works fine so I don't care. I hope they don't sell my return to someone else, it is almost OK, but in comparison to my other 2, the picture is hazy. These are smaller than I expected (which doesn't really matter I guess) and the magnetic mount and mounting arm rotates in all directions making it easy to position. You can put a screw through the mount too so it can't just be knocked down by someone, but they could rip it down easy enough if they can reach it. These look a little delicate, so I mounted it under the eave to keep it out of the rain and snow. The Tapo-TP-Link software is better than some chinese ones I tried. I had weird glitchy issues with a couple other brands, like the dates not matching up, or going off line and needing to be reset. This just works well. You can zoom in on videos which is nice. It does not have 2X or 4X speed like my other ones did which was helpful when scrolling through a bunch of clips looking for something, but that is the only feature I miss. It does not record 24x7 to the card, but you don't want to have to replay that much anyway when looking for something. The motion video indicates whether it is a car, person, pet or general motion and you can set the level of sensitivity to get more or less recordings. I turn off notifications and just use these as security cameras to look back through if something happens. This can take a big microSD card so you have lots of days saved, more that I would ever need I think. I am using a 64 and 128gb card but it takes even bigger ones. Price was great too, especially on sale. So far I am very happy with it. I will post a followup if anything changes in the next several months.

Incredible little camera!
I use this camera just to watch my tanks while I’m not home, and it works great! I was a bit wary at first, as I was used to Ring and Amcrest cameras, but after living with them for a while, they’re actually quite nice cameras. It only took me a minute to set them all up, and they work great! I love how the app is much nicer than what Amcrest offers, and they’re incredibly quick to pair with the app. I don’t really use them at night, but when I do, their night vision is actually rather good for a little camera of its price, so I’d say you get absolutely what you expect for the price. They do have poor physical adjustment, though that's not really an issue if you put them in simple areas or don't intend on using their articulating base. A big bonus is that they're small, which is important as competing Ring and Amcrest options are comparatively massive, though that's just a personal preference. Overall, a 10/10 camera from an excellent brand.

Picture is great, the audio experience not as good
I ordered this camera for my mother's memory care room. Her ipad being stolen within a month of her moving in made us decide we needed a camera in her room. And now we can see what is going on with her as well, since she is unable to give us any kind of a report. The camera might have gotten 5 stars except for the constant chirping noise I hear when viewing it (on any device.) I went to a Tapo support site, and their troubleshooting didn't help. Since I live out of town, visiting my mother 5 days per month, I didn't have time to return the camera and get another - I needed the camera in place before I left. So if it is indeed defective, which it seems to be, it was past the return window when I returned to visit, so I can't do anything about it. The other fault I find with it is the sound filter. It is great that it filters out the background noise, but it filters too much, chopping off words so I cannot hear what is being said, and I also cannot hear what music might be playing because so much cuts out. And I have found no way to adjust the sound filter setting. That makes the audio part only half useful, being able to make out a little of what is said. The picture is really good, better than a Blink camera I have used before. It was easy to install, and I like how you can hang the magnetic plate and then attach the camera. And then you can angle it to the view that you want very easily. I also really like that I don't have to sign up for a plan, since I can just put the microSD card in and it records. The only other experience I have is a Blink camera with batteries, and this is much better for our needs, since we don't need to change batteries and the picture is better. And the Blink doesn't seem to filter any of the sound, so it seems to be one extreme or the other. Since I already found a good way to hang this one and hide the cord, I will probably order another to replace the chirping one, rather than gamble on a different camera altogether. And if the next one isn't any better I can just send it back right away. But maybe the next one won't chirp and will have better audio quality. If I get it and the next one turns out better, I will come back and modify my review.

Excellent Value Easy to Set up APP.
I purchased this security camera yesterday, it arrived at my house this morning and this afternoon I have it installed and I have it linked to my WiFi Network and running on the TAPO app on my phone. I not overly techy at all and I found the app, and the bluetooth pairing with my phone, and the connecting to my house's WiFi etc... to be extremely easy to set up an use. I can see my front door, talk to people out there, turn a light on and I can even make a little alarm noise too. LOL. Local storage: I bought Extreme SanDisk 256mb Mini SD cards for local storage. Whatever card you get you will need a minimum rating of V30. 256 mb should record about 2 weeks on a loop, I think. this camera could support a 512mb card, but they are more than twice the price. Subscription: I signed up for the 30 day free trial of their membership subscription. I could run this app and view this camera on my phone and utilize my local storage without the subscription. The subscription adds cloud storage. Beyond Cloud Storage I do not relly know what other benefits I gain from the subscription, but will probably find out when it runs out. I'll try life without it and then determine if I want to sign up. Installation: I found the metallic mounting plate for magnetic mounting to be useless on a vertical wall application. The camera would just slide down the metal plate, the magnet was not strong enough. I drilled holes through the camera base and mounted it that way, worked very well and was easy to do and looks professional. There is a USB C or similar power supply plug on the camera end and the supplied power cord has a regular USB power plug on the other end. They supply your with a USB to 115 plug power block included in the box. I used a plastic handy box I had on hand anchored to a piece of truss framing to mount a regular 115 outlet that spliced into an existing 14/2 electrical wire running in the soffit above my camera mounting location. I have this power block plugged into that and the power cord for the camera plugged into the power block. I'm glad nobody will ever see it, looks crappy. I had all of this on hand and have wired multiple houses. If purchasing on outlet for this installation I would recommend purchasing a USB 115 outlet that mounts in a handy box. I bought two fo these cameras, these re my first security cameras. I am happy with these two for $25 a piece but before I buy more I will research and try to find a tapo option that just has a couple bare wires sticking out of it so I can just hardwire it directly to my house's electrical system. My cameras were purchase don sale. For $25 a piece and $25 a piece for the cards, so $50 a piece total, I am loop recording 14 days of security footage that I can access from the other side of the world via my phone and home WiFi system. Not to mention I can also talk to people on my front door. Who can complain about that? Of course if someone just cuts my internet cable, it'll all go to s*** anyways. I suppose the cameras would continue recording on my SD cards. Of course if they could see your cameras, they could take the cameras or just the SD crds too. But its better than nothing, I should have done this sooner.

Good cameras, glitched audio
I'm shocked at the low price of the cameras considering how well they work. I plan on replacing all my old cameras with these over the next couple of months. I opted to go with microSD cards instead of subscribing to the cloud service. I went with 256GB Samsung Pro Endurance microSD cards and everything works flawlessly. They are 2.4ghz only, but that has plenty of bandwidth for what they use. The motion detection is nice. It has what you'd typically expect, meaning, you can set up areas on the FOV to detect or not detect certain things plus it has the "AI" function where you can go through detected events and correct them (set a motion detection as a pet or select that there was no event) and it "learns" and applies that to future detections. This drastically cuts back on things like trees blowing in the wind and also helps to mark/record events as a pet walking by or something else. The image quality is exceptionally clear. I'm very impressed. The IR night vision has great range. I have three in total and all are outside. So far, they have held up fine through the rain and heat. I'm getting ~17 days of 24/7 recording using the 256GB microSD card. The only con I'm noticing is the audio. I've tried different sensitivites on the microphone and it just doesn't have decent audio quality. My older cameras that I'm replacing could hear, FOR EXAMPLE, someone speaking from 200 yards away. It heard what your ears wouldn't really pick up on. No, I didn't spy on people, I'm just saying. While I don't NEED that level of mic quality and sensitivity, these cameras just BARELY seem to pick up on audio. It's very bad audio quality, straight up. Everything else about them seems so top notch but the audio is horrendous, honestly. Seems to not pick up on some things at all, sometimes it sounds like it's just cutting in and out, and that's whether it's live view or checking recorded footage from the microSD card, in case anyone is wondering if it's the 2.4ghz network. Gotta update that the audio issue still isn't fixed, it's becoming more and more annoying. They can release a firmware fix but won't. I've read on their forums you have to send them videos, MAC addresses, links to your forum posts, etc. just to get a firmware pushed out to your devices. Terrible customer support. Did all that and get the "we don't offer firmware." Yeah? Well, 5 days ago you did. I'd send these back if the return window wasn't done. I'm tired of being ripped off. "Here's a camera... BUT the microphone/audio doesn't work. Deal with it." I have better luck with Temu, HONESTLY. I HONESTLY have better luck with $10 cameras from Temu. You don't get the software support, but you get hardware that works.

Tapo are the best
Really great product for the price. We have several cameras and smart plugs. They're easy to install and easy to add to the app. Would absolutely recommend.
