Fits great, looks great and works great
We have an addition we build over our garage (huge bedroom with a tray ceiling) and the HVAC guys put the air return at the top of the room when i told them I wanted it at the bottom. (Long Story) Ever since that, in the winter time if the door to that room is closed, it becomes a walk-in freezer. This vent solved that problem. The room is now the same temp as the rest of the house because the cold air that was trapped in the room can now escape through the vent. Installation was easy using a jigsaw, but I have 1 suggestion. when you trace out the pattern, cut the small vertical ends directly or slightly inside the traced line. I went a but outside of it and there was a bit of extra space. if I didn't center the vent, you could see a gap. So, cut inside the lines a bit and if its too tight, you can always remove more material, you can never add more back in. Installation took maybe 20 minutes total from removing the door to putting it back on the hinges This worked fantastic, I couldn't be happier

Works well to ventilate a room. Not heavy duty but it was easy to install and does its job
I like this product a lot. I have installed several return air pathways that go through walls, which help a lot in allowing the air conditioning to continue to work in rooms that have their doors closed. I bought this for a room where the studs are too close together and I have electrical and pluming issues where I would like to put a normal return air pathway. This door version is actually cheaper and probably easier to install. For this to be an easy project, you should have a jigsaw, but you could probably make it work with other tools if you were dedicated. If you are like my your doors are basically hollow with only thin walls. That makes them easy to cut and this fits right over the hole. Very little light and noise gets through and it looks pretty good installed. It makes a big difference in the air flow. This extends your door downward a quarter of an inch or so unless you chisel away some of the wood at the edges so it fits all the way in. That's what I did and it's a pain because my doors are made of very flimsy material. I ended up putting some caulk around it as well to act as a makeshift glue of sorts. In other words, because this attaches by only two screws at the bottom and because doors are made of really weak stuff, this isn't very securely attached if you don't also use some kind of glue. This is also made of plastic and cardboard. It wouldn't stand up well to being kicked or something. Just be aware of that when you are deciding which doors this is appropriate on. Having done both, I'd say cutting the door and using this is easier than cutting the drywall and making a hole in the wall for the other type of return air pathway. I recommend them both, but this is the easier and slightly cheaper option.

Easy to install
I bought a few other vent types to install in my utility room door, to bring it up to code; not sure why it wasnโt there in the first place. Then I realized that theyโd be terrible to try to fix into a hollow-core door, and they wouldnโt be able to dampen the noise of the furnace. The room is next to my den/movie room/exercise space, and near two bedrooms. It would be really annoying if there was a lot of noise. I donโt know how I saw this one first; I think I came across it on YouTube when looking for something else. It installs so easily into a hollow-core door, is simple to cut out with the template right on the box, and even includes two screws to attach it with. (Would have been nice to say what size holes for the screws... I wasnโt convinced they wouldnโt strip without at least a starter hole.) I took the door down, carried it outside, and finished the cut, install, and cleanup in half an hour. That only took me that long because I donโt have a full sized circular saw, just a mini, and had to flip the door over to cut out the other side. I used an oscillating multitool to make the long cut through the hollow core, just because I needed it for the initial plunge cut, and found it to be easy enough without switching back, but either would work. I took off a star for two reasons; one, the inside sound dampening baffles are made of cardboard, and theyโre not sealed into the plastic all around, so I wonder what will happen if they become damp. For a device that costs this much, I expected something more sturdy inside, perhaps a foam based baffle. The other reason was the cost; it was $41, which was too much for a piece of molded plastic. But it did work, and I made up for the cost by doing it myselfโcontractor wanted $300 to do it, though heโd supply the vent.

Great alternative solution for getting air flow back to HVAC unit for conditioning stagnant rooms
This is a great solution for getting the HVAC air flow back to the return air grill in rooms that don't have great flow, and simpler than other means of return air ducting. Many don't know that, in order to efficiently cool/heat a room, the air MUST exit the room to get back into the air flow loop. Often times the gap below the door is less than it should be, yet that is the only means by which air can get out of the room and back into the system. This makes the room a place where air stagnates and doesn't condition well. Ideally, you want the square inch area of room outflow to match to total size of inflow from the grilles in the ceiling. Ease of install is about a 4/10. You need to have the ability to pull hinge pins, mark the template and safely cut the door. After that, installation is a breeze. As it is plastic, it could be damaged by a hard kick or collision when moving heavy things. Also watch out for door stops mounted low which can contact the grill. These will destroy it. The grill is obviously visible but blends in well with the look of the door, especially if you paint to match

This really works well!
This was so easy install! We recently got our home insulated and ductwork sealed. Our daughter's room had no return vent, so what was happening was the rest of our home would get nice and cool, but at night with her door shut it was significantly warmer in her room and open her door was not an option at night. With the door open and air on it was 70 degrees in her room. Same as the rest of the home. With it closed for 1 hour, no vent it was 74 degrees. After installing the vent in her door, a cool 70 degrees. She said last night she had to pull the covers up! You can even feel the air flowing through the vent. Great product!

Way overpriced but it does work
Cheaply made product - plastic construction with cardboard inside to reduce sound transmission. I had to fish out stray pieces of cardboard that were blocking the airflow, obviously no quality control. The product does work as advertised and is not too difficult to install. You will need a good pair of scissors or a box cutter to cut out the template. It is not a separate item, it is just printed on the shipping box. To cut the door I used a jig saw with a fine tooth metal blade to avoid possible splintering. Also used a drill for pilot holes for the 2 included screws. I am not sorry I bought it, just annoyed at the high price for plastic and cardboard. It did improve the airflow from the bedroom.

Great product, just be aware of the color
Great product for the job of ventilation. However, please be aware that "Off-White" means a yellowish white. If your door is a pure white, this product will require painting to match, and the semi-gloss ABS plastic surface is not paintable without proper preparation and special paint (a few other reviews have good tips on this). Many of the videos and product images do not convey an accurate white.
