Worked well when I had to get it late and had limited options on where to get it
I usually buy this at big club membership store in January when it goes on sale but I thought I wasn't going to need Turbotax this year--but I was wrong. I also thought I couldn't use it because it doesn't support my Mac OS any more. This is a REALLY BAD THING about TurboTax. They quickly stop supporting older computers. I managed to be able to do it on Windows laptop running Windows 10. It worked well--even though I had to transfer my previous return from the Mac. It was able to read it and import the file from the Mac to the Windows PC. Although NOW they say they won't support Windows 10 any more. Has to be 11. Very frustrating.

Looks similar to TT of past 10+ years - EASY to install on MacBOOK
I've been using Turbo Tax for at least 10 years and find it meets my needs for filing personal taxes (and my unmarried partner for her taxes) and a small consulting business I have. My taxes aren't too complicated, but I do want to get them right, especially in figuring deductions, both personal and business. I've always found Turbo Tax easy to use in terms of being menu-driven, with the convenience that I can import information from the previous tax year, and also (great thing!) import data from various institutions such as banks that I would otherwise have to enter manually. In terms of this year (covering 2024), I just bought the package and downloaded it for both Federal and state taxes. I then imported the previous year's taxes and did a quick look at the sections I'll be filling out. I may change this later, but my quick inspection says it looks just like previous years. In terms of downloading and installing the software, it was very, very easy to get the software loaded on my MacBook. Basically, you get an email from Amazon right after you order this that has 4-5 steps, beginning with going off to the Intuit/Turbo Tax website, identifying your product and operating system, and then downloading a file that you (on an Apple) move to your applications folder and then open. The email you get includes a license number, which you enter as part of registration, and once you do this, you are ready to go. The whole process took about 2 minutes (I'm a slow typist), including the time needed to choose state software. So bottom line, it looks like good software that is easy to install following instructions Amazon sends in an email. HAPPY FILING!! Recommended.

If you prepare your own taxes - You NEED this product.
I have done my taxes all my life. About 40 years or so ago, I discovered Turbo Tax. I have used it for all but one of these years. One year ago, I tried the H&R Block product. The following year, I went back to Turbo Tax. I have portrayed Santa every year for the past 10 years. I typically have 20 to 30 visits each year. Turbo Tax helps with this because it remembers what I deducted the previous year and jogs my memory about expenses I might forget. It also handles all of my investment items, including ESOP purchases and stock grants from my employer. I also use the state version. One of the most significant advantages is completing deductions as I get the paperwork or reviewing the year. This allows me to spread the time I spend on taxes out over several weeks. It also helps in that if I find another charitable receipt I can add it with no fuss. If I was doing this by hand, I would have to reduce the schedule and all the calculations. I have also used the professional preparer function, which allows you to make a phone call with a tax expert. This is well worth the extra $60 for the peace of mind that it gives me and clarification on some more challenging tax situations.

Did not work right this year. For me
I have been using TurboTax for many years and I have been happy with it. This year, something changed. This year was the first year, I had to Mail my return in. TurboTax did not finish the return, something to do with last year's return, numbers on a certain line, was not entered. Every time I tried to fix the problem, TurboTax would delete the fix. I'm thinking bad programing. I mailed my return in and IRS accepted it.

Taxed
Turbo Tax is user friendly and I feel confident that I've filed my taxes properly. I don't fear an audit because the software take you through each step thoroughly. I would recommend this software.

Still the Most Reliable DIY Tax Software for Professionals and Small Businesses
Still the Most Reliable DIY Tax Software for Professionals and Small Businesses I’ve used TurboTax Home & Business for years now—through multiple OS versions, tax code updates, and small business changes—and it remains the most polished, user-friendly tax software available for freelancers and independent contractors. I purchased the 2024 version for my consulting and 1099 income, and the experience is familiar: clear, structured, and efficient. Setup was painless. The Amazon download link directed me straight to Intuit’s site, where installation took less than five minutes on both Mac and PC. It automatically imported last year’s data, saving hours of manual entry. Within minutes, it had pulled my 1099s, bank interest, and W-2 info from linked institutions. The program’s interface hasn’t changed much—and that’s a good thing. It’s intuitive, question-driven, and still walks you through every deduction, from home office expenses to mileage and depreciation. The value comes from its built-in business logic. For instance, it identifies industry-specific deductions and asset write-offs, and its “Audit Risk Meter” offers useful feedback for borderline deductions. The Quick Employer Forms feature is convenient for generating 1099s and W-2s without separate payroll software. There are still a few caveats: state e-file fees feel unnecessary given the premium price, and the download version means keeping your own backups. Occasionally, large QuickBooks imports can misalign a few line items (common across tax software). But overall, it’s smooth, stable, and very accurate. Bottom line: TurboTax Home & Business 2024 remains the gold standard for self-employed professionals who prefer to handle their own taxes with precision and control. It’s not the cheapest option, but the clarity, reliability, and deduction coverage easily justify the cost.

I wish I could give zero stars... since it does not deserve even one star.
I have been using "TurboTax Home & Business" for decades, but this year will be my last. Over the past three years, I’ve meticulously compared TurboTax to other tax software, including FreeTaxUSA, Cash App Tax, TaxSlayer, H&R Block, and others. Each year, I input identical information and options into all the programs for comparison. While TurboTax initially seemed marginally better than most, I chose to file with it because it was well-known and I believed its software would account for every detail accurately. However, over the last three years, TurboTax has consistently caused issues with the mortgage interest I paid. Each time, I had to manually adjust the settings, which resulted in recalculated figures that differed by thousands of dollars. When it comes to taxes, the phrase "money talks" truly applies. Like most people, I prefer receiving a larger refund or paying less. Unfortunately, TurboTax consistently resulted in me paying more or receiving a lower refund compared to other platforms. I also noticed that its "Home & Business" version produced better results in terms of refunds or payments, but I questioned why the lower-tier versions didn’t perform similarly. This year, TurboTax indicated that I owed $4,500, while FreeTaxUSA reported $4,000, and Cash App Tax reported $3,700. Upon reviewing the finalized PDF files from each program, I found identical information across all of them (on the actual paper forms), yet TurboTax’s calculations were inexplicably higher—by nearly $1,000 in some cases. Moreover, TurboTax added a penalty/interest to my IRS balance, despite the fact that I wasn’t late to file and didn’t owe any balances from previous years. None of the other software platforms included this penalty. After three years of careful comparison, I’ve decided I can no longer justify using TurboTax. Not only has it resulted in me giving unnecessary funds to the IRS, but I’ve also wasted money purchasing the software itself. Additionally, the responses to my questions on TurboTax’s user forums were inaccurate, and the IRS later confirmed the correct answers — answers that other tax software platforms provide correctly. For instance, when I inquired int he Forum about whether my mortgage loan qualified as a refinance, their TurboTax "Expert" agents gave incorrect guidance, whereas other platforms handled this detail properly (based on the answer I got directly from the IRS). Ultimately, I opted for Cash App Tax because not only did it save me $1,000 compared to TurboTax, but it was also completely free for all users, regardless of income level. While TurboTax struggled to import my information from PDF files correctly, resulting in numerous manual corrections, other programs imported all the data flawlessly and without errors. Between the frequent glitches and the higher costs (extra money given to the IRS and buying the software), TurboTax no longer makes sense for me. This year’s comparisons confirmed that Cash App Tax is by far the best option. I hope this review proves helpful. Several online platforms, including FreeTaxUSA, Cash App Tax, TaxSlayer, H&R Block, TaxAct, and the IRS website, allow you to create free accounts. You can input your information and numbers to receive live tax estimates without any obligation to file. You can stop at any point before being asked if you're ready to file, giving you the flexibility to review and compare the final numbers across all these platforms. I encourage you to try it yourself and see the results firsthand, rather than relying solely on my advice.
