KnitUK Long Yellow Knitting Loom (36cm): 38 pegs + 38 Pink Extra pegs.

Purchased as a gift and as an addition to a kit of four sizes of knitting looms previously purchased. It includes most of the same accessories as are in the kit but with the odd exclusion of the stitch pick (or hook) needed to use it; fortunately she has a few spares. Included are a bag of pink pegs, a couple of spare matching yellow pegs should one or two break (unlikely in normal use) and the plastic guide tube which may be too long for some users - it can be cut with a sharp knife. This size is ideal for adult scarves and possibly beanie hats. Although initially appearing too large, once the tension in the yarn is relaxed, a panel or tube appears to shrink by about 25%; for example, using 33 pegs (17 yellow plus 16 intermediate pink), the on-loom length for a panel is 28 cm but reduces to 21 cm once several rows are knitted using a 3-ply double-knit yarn but dimensions with other yarns may differ slightly. The idea behind the purchase was to have one loom 'natural' without any pink pegs which will be perfect for Aran, Chunky and Super Chunky yarns but, with the pink pegs inserted, it is then ideal for three-ply and some Aran yarns. Unless a very loose knit is desired or dictated by a pattern, 2-ply may be too thin even with the reduced peg spacing. Initially, a 2-ply was used without the additional pegs and the knit was unacceptably loose with 1 cm or more spacing between stitches.
