I love this thing
I'm 53 yo female and have gotten fairly out of shape over the last 8 years. (I used to be quite athletic and fit) I'm also in menopause and gained 30 lbs from this. To top it off, I live out in the country where there are no sidewalks for safe walking. It also rains here and we get seasonal weather like snow. I bought this rower after doing a lot of research. I wanted something in my price range but also good quality. This fit the bill so I bought it. I assembled it by myself, no problem. First off, this thing is QUIET. I am really noise-averse so I was so happy about how quiet this is. Q-U-I-E-T Second, I am nearly 6 feet and I have plenty of room on this. I've read comments about the lack of resistance. Look, if you are on this thing, like I am, between 30-60 minutes, YOU WILL FEEL IT. This is not weight training. You get cardio and strength with this, not isolated, concentrated muscle use. If your form is good, you will have sore everything the next day from using this. I had no idea how much it worked my legs until I woke the next day with sore glutes, hamstrings, and thighs. I was shocked. (and delighted) I vary my workouts between 1 and 4 resistance (it goes to 16) and I FEEL it. My sweetie, who is both younger, taller, and fitter, at first commented on the lack of resistance and made fun of it. I got him to row at a 16 and it beat him up and he was sore the next day. He now respects it as legit. I did buy a rower seat pad just because I want it to be as comfortable as possible. I put in my ear buds and an audio book and close my eyes and row. I never imagined I would so enjoy working out. I truly am loving this thing. It doesn't hurt my joints, I feel stronger, I am sleeping better, I can do it any time/weather, it doesn't bother anyone in the house because it's so quiet - just an overall win and great investment. I have finally found exercise I will do. I've also researched rowing as a form of exercise and study after study shows that you work 86% of the muscles in your body and you get cardio and strength at the same time. I am rowing daily and find that, unlike literally every other kind of exercise, I'm not resisting or finding excuses to not do this. I ordered a book that suggests different types of workouts on a rower so I can expand my reality about what's possible with this thing. I watched a youtube video to learn proper form and have experienced no back or joint pain at all. If you like to row or want to, and can't afford a $1200 machine, this one really does a good job. I am really pleased.

Easy to assemble, whisper quiet, easy app
I really love this machine. It is whisper quiet and solidly built while still being light and easy to move out of the way. I moved to this from a WaterRower (developed a leak after 20 years), and really thought I'd miss the whoosh of the water and the beauty of the wood, but I am really loving the absolute quiet and smoothness of this machine and how light and small it is. It was easy to connect to the app, which connects to Apple Health and tracks my activities. The tension settings cover the range I want to row in, and the motion feels smooth and natural. The seat is comfy and works well, but could use a bit more "shape" to hold you more securely rather than just being flat. I might get a bike seat cushion cover to add a bit more grip and form. My only real complaint with this is that I used to use my WaterRower just in socks. The foot pads on the Sunny machine aren't soft, and the straps aren't short enough to allow this, so I'll have to wear shoes. This is probably better anyway, but I liked the option of not wearing shoes. If you can assemble a simple IKEA table (not even a bookshelf), you can assemble this - you bolt on the legs, slide on the seat, bolt the two halves of the main slide bar together, and connect the computer. The only thing you need are scissors to cut the tape and open the box - all other tools and hardware are provided. The instructions are very detailed, and the hardware is very clearly labelled to match each step and part number. I'm a small person with limited mobility and it took me about 30 minutes to assemble.

It’s very nice and serving me well
It’s a really nice rower and is long enough for me to stretch out all the way - I’m 5’4” I’m having trouble with the counter calculating the number of rows, the distance, heart rate, and calories, etc. I’m sure it’s “owner ignorance”, not the machine. I’ll figure it out as I go. I’ve brought up several of the Sunny instructions on YouTube and am working on the 40 day project, 20-minutes each day. This rower is showing me unspoken muscles that I had long ago forgotten about and which are screaming now, so I’m beginning to build muscle and form. Should see better results in another week or so. This machine doesn’t have an incline but some that are much less expensive do. It’s a feature I wish it had. I also really like the double bars on the platform. They make it easier for me to get on and off at my older age, plus gives great stability. I’m not sure how much weight resistance it has, but less expensive rowers have up to 99.9 pounds. That’s enough weight for me. Putting this rowet together was harder than I thought. The machine I received must be an updated version. The instructions on YouTube with the same model number didn’t match the machine I received. It does have a super quiet row and glides smoothly on the rails. I do really love it but as mentioned, there are features available on other, less expensive rowers that I would have liked to have with my current Sunny rower routine. Happy rowing!

Great Rowing Machine at a Good Value
I researched reviews of about a dozen rowing machines in the $200 to $300 price range and finally settled on this one. After three weeks of use, I'm very pleased with my choice. The unit is very easy to assemble. It is also easy to move from room to room using the wheels on the front feet. I like to use it in front of a TV to make the time pass, and moving it around is very easy. Just pick up the back end of it, lift it to about a 45 degree angle and roll it across the floor on the wheels, whether carpet or hard flooring. The back end is very light so little effort is required to lift it. The range of resistance adjustment has been sufficient for me. I'm 70 years old, but I'm fit and athletic, and participate in a number of exercise routines including weight machines and bicycle riding. The resistance settings are 1 through 16. I do most of my 15 to 20 minute rowing sessions on setting #8. Setting 16 is quite stiff and offers way enough resistance for a rowing machine. After all, this is an aerobic exercise machine intended for general fitness, not meant for bulking up muscle mass. As a retired mechanical engineer, I also like the construction of the unit, which allows for easy disassembly of the resistance unit in case anything wears out and needs replacement down the line sometime. A few screws and the side comes right off for full access to the machine's resistance components. This is a great machine at a great price. You can spend more, but you really don't need to.

Great budget rower!
My wife wanted a rower, so after a thumbs up on the Sunny Rower from Coop at Garage Gym Reviews, I pulled the trigger on this. Let's get the obvious out of the way: it's an ugly piece of equipment. It's not going to be the centerpiece of your home gym based on it's looks. Assembly - there are only seven steps to assembly and my son and I cobbled it together in about 45 minutes, at least 10 of which was just unboxing and getting all the parts free of packaging. Resistance: This rower uses magnetic resistance instead of the industry standard fan. Considering the target audience for this rower isn't professional rowers and hardcore Crossfitters, I think it's plenty (with the added benefit of being whisper quiet. There are eight levels of magnetic resistance which should be plenty for the average person to get in a decent workout. I did 20 minutes of Zone 2 with only half the resistance set, and I'm a fairly big, strong guy. Stability - this machine only weighs 50 pounds, so while it's easy to move around and store it in a corner, it's not going to be as stable as it could be if you're really getting after it and trying to generate 100W during a HIIT workout, but again, for the average person it's going to be just fine. I haven't had any issue with this machine tipping or walking around on me yet, and I'm about 6' 1" and well over 220lbs. I have a 34" inseam, and I'm able to easily fully extend my legs on the stroke. Users over 6' 3" might find it difficult, but everyone else will be fine. Durability - the main and slide rails are a fairly heavy gauge steel and should hold up well. The plastic cowling over the flywheel, in addition to being ugly AF, feels cheap and brittle as do the foot rests. Another item of potential concern is rather than use an industry standard chain, to hit the price point this rower uses a nylon strap which will certainly wear out with use, as will the nylon rollers under the seat. In a high use commercial setting these items would wear out quickly, but should be okay for awhile in your average home gym with only one or two users. Fit and finish - nothing about this rower looks or feels premium. You're getting exactly what you pay for, a good, solid budget rower. The cheap foam on the handle neither looks, nor feels good in the hand and will also be a likely point of failure for wear. The few welds on the rail are all good welds with no sharp points anywhere. The high density foam on the saddle is comfy and feels good to sit on. It seems to be one area they didn't skimp on. In use, it feels smooth and is very quiet. I know one other reviewer posted a video of the rower making creaking sounds, but I would guess that's due to loose bolts or the nylon rollers needed to be replaced. The foot rests are designed to be used with shoes. This might not be a problem for most, but I always workout barefoot, and it would be nice if you could tighten the straps down enough to work well for barefoot trainees. All in all it's a very functional, budget rower that most people will be happy with until they can upgrade to a Concept 2 (or a clone).

Great for me at 71!
Update: the machine works great for me. But I am not as strong as I used to be nor as tall! My 6'1" very strong son tried it yesterday. Even on the highest setting, he felt that it was very easy to pull. Also being that tall his knees got in the way on the return. First let me say, like others have said in reviews, the packaging was very secure! Make sure you have a very good pair of scissors or utility knife handy! The set up was relatively easy and I have to say the directions and the packaged hardware were done in such a way that you almost could not make a mistake. It had some of the best packaging of hardware that I have seen in a put together device. I did heed what other said about it being low to the ground. And at 71 years old with a not so great knee and a not great hip, I took that into consideration when I set it up. I put it near a bookcase where I can use that to help me get up. For me, the range of 1 to 16 on the dial will be more than enough! The rower is very smooth and even without headphones on, I can listen to an audiobook or music. It's a very smooth glide and the foot straps definitely help! I do need to find a better pair of shoes that are flat on the bottom. Overall, I am very happy with this purchase. I did look at a couple of cheaper models but after reading a lot of reviews I went with Sunny brand and opted for this model. I'm very glad I did!

Sturdy Machine Has Held Up Well
When shopping for a rowing machine last year, I was seriously considering spending $1500 or more for a top of the line model, but most of those required monthly subscriptions to their apps that featured videos and classes you could row to. I decided to go the cheap route and make sure that I liked rowing before making the huge investment, and I'm glad that I did. The Sunny models all seemed to get reviews across multiple websites saying they were tops in the economy class, so that's how I ended up choosing this one, and it was the model that Amazon had on sale the day that I was buying. I just keep mine in my living room in front of the TV lengthwise when not in use, then every morning when I want to row I just lift it, roll it, and turn it 90-degrees and row away while watching an episode of my favorite shows. This keeps the boredom and tedium away. I find that my butt doesn't like to be in the seat for any longer than about 50 minutes, but the hour-long series shows that I watch without commercials run around 43 minutes, so it's perfect for me. The pull on the cable has adjustable tension and operates very smoothly. I had a problem where it started squealing on me, but loosening the screws on the housing that it comes out of took care of that problem. The seat rolls nicely. The wheels for transporting it perform that function well. I seriously think this was a great deal and I've been working out on it about five days a week for almost 11 months now and it still operates just like it's supposed to.

Excellent piece of equipment...but
The first thing you need to know about this product is that if there is ANY chance you might need to return it, take pictures of the packaging as you unpack it. There is a lot of styrafoam blocks used in the packaging and you will have a hard time remembering how it goes back together if you have to ship it back. Like most of the other reviewers I agree that the seat is too low for a lot of people, not because it is to hard to stand up from, but your knees get in the way. I am 6 feet tall and the only way I could use the machine was to spread my knees wide apart and row between them. So I raised the seat 5 inches (see photo) and now it is very comfortable to use. You might be able to just put some pillows on the seat to make it higher if you're not handy with a drill and saw. The machine is built very sturdy with good heavy gage steel, not aluminum. It's very smooth and not jerky regardless of the rowing speed. There are 16 levels of resistance but the difference between each one is barely perceptable. It's enough to give you a very good core workout and a very very good cardiovascular workout, but you're still going to need to do weight training if you want to do more than tone muscle. I will say this though, my resting heart rate has dropped from the mid sixties to mid fifties after six weeks, and I have lost 6 pounds using it 6 days per weeks. There aren't a lot of bells and whistles in the electronics. You can set or count minutes, strokes, and calories. I usually set the machine for 100 calories and let the machine count down to zero. Unfortunately, the machine doesn't beep when it gets to zero. Also, the stroke counter and calorie counter are basically the same thing. I have found that no matter how fast I row, or how much resistance I use, it always takes 1,175 strokes to equal 100 calories. So the calorie counter isn't accurate, but it is consistent. I am very satisfied with the machine after I raised the seat, but think twice if you can't do the same. Update: Keep the receipt for a while. After using the machine for about a month I noticed some oil leaking out of the bottom of the machine. I took the cover off and found that it wasn't oil, but grease leaking out of the housing for the spring that pulls the cord back in on the return stroke. I emailed some pictures to the supplier and they sent me a replacement part within 10 days. Thank Goodness the part didn't have to come all the way from China. The replacement part looked identical in every way to the one that is leaking, so I haven't replaced it yet since the machine still works just fine other than the slow leak. I'm wondering if they just over lubricated the spring in the first place and eventually it will stop leaking on it's on. At any rate, I would recommend putting some plastic under the front of the machine to protect your floor if it does leak. As of today I have lost 16 pounds and feel great. The people at Sunny didn't hassle me over the replacement part and I am still very satisfied with the machine.

Best inexpensive indoor rower
Firstly, it arrived in 3 days. Assembly was easy, with explicitly clear instructions and all parts easily identified. It is quiet, even in a hard workout. The resistance levels, from 1-16 are true, with 16 being a bit of a struggle, and the lower numbers a good relaxing pull. Great machine for exercise, not so much for training, as the monitor does not show distances or stroke rate, just number of strokes, time and calories burned. It is very sturdy, and the price was much lower than comparable ergs. Oh yes, and the seat is the most comfortable I've ever had.

Very good home equipment
I have had several budget rowing machines at home in my (long) life, but this equipment is the best. It's stable, and your feet remain in front of the resistance machine. This allows you to move further forward and bend your knees more. I wasn't expecting a resistance comparable to gym equipment, but it's fair for me, and my wife loves it.
