Blauberg Calm Design Low Noise Energy Efficient Bathroom Extractor Fan White 100mm Humidity

Calm design 100 with humidity sensor and timer. My criteria was low dB..no branding on front cover. Humidity sensor and timer over run. This fan is excellent in every way. Switched live, permanent live and neutral electrical provision required. Earth not required as fan is double insulated. Fitted easily into existing 100mm hole. 4 screws, 3 wires. The fan is very quiet, clean lines with no ' shouty' branding. I'm really pleased with it. A discrete led to indicate fan operation is a perfect addition. Durability obviously to be established but with a 5 year warranty im really not concerned. Would buy again.

Our ensuite bathroom was always damp and getting mouldy. No-one wants a fan in their bedroom that stays on for 25 minutes if someone pops in for a wee or to do their teeth, but you do want it to stay on after a shower, when the room is damp. This is the answer. You can set the timer to a couple of minutes so mostly the fan clicks off after use, but if your teenager has had a long hot shower and condensation is dripping off the walls, the fan will stay on until the room is reasonably dry, which may be several hours. Unlike a previous fan I tried, this one is a little louder but it does seem to move a fair amount of air, which many of the cheaper ones don't. USEFUL FACT: This isn't explained well in the instructions but the humidity sensor works in reverse, so the higher you turn it, the less sensitive it is. At the lowest setting the amount of moisture in the air required to trigger the fan is roughly the level in the air in the UK on a wet winters day, so your fan will stay on continuously. Turn it up, and it needs a higher level of moisture so the fan turns off, unless the room is particularly damp. It's totally counterintuitive.

On the plus side - 3 years later it is still working, and hasn't stopped working. That's testament to its reliability. But after 1 month the timer stopped and the fan just consumes energy. Given the fact this is one of the most basic functions to get right, I would avoid this fan - now that I am looking for a new one.

Believe the negative reviews posted about this item because it is perhaps one of the worst items I've ever tried to use in terms of its longevity. The first fan I received was installed correctly, after about one week it's simply stopped working. On inspection the the PCB unit is it housed within a so-called sealed box, evidently to prevent moisture ingress. Unfortunately is a flawed design because in the cold winter months condensation forms on the inside of this sealed box as what happened with this unit. I am however ambivalent as to whether this was the cause of the failure, as I'm more inclined to believe poor PCB design is the result of it, perhaps voltage extrapolation across all components has not been fully assessed, or time given to analyse the impact on the components on this shoddily tested PCB. I returned this unit. The second unit failed within 4 days; thus there is no time for any condensation to form on this sealed PCB box which led me to believe and confirm poor design on Blauberg's part. The motor is quiet enough when it was running, but I'm afraid this piece of junk is not fit for purpose long term.

Great fan. We have installed in our kitchen to kick in when cooking pasta etc. Seems to help the humidity, nice and quiet and love that it only comes on when needed. Fairly easy to install and easy to adjust settings. looks very neat and love that there are no big brand logos or writing. Would recommend.

It's protrudes a bit too much but used to it now . It is very quiet works v well indeed

This is a replacement item, the first one stopped working after 1 month (which Amazon replaced with no hassle) its very quiet and easy to fit and was great when working, let's hope this one lasts longer .. edit, it's now 5 months later and now the bathroom has higher levels of steam as its winter there is water getting into the fan electrics and was shorting out. Needs to be in a larger room size, wall mounted or have a non open shower

Mechanically easy to fit. I installed the 240V unit with humidistat in an external wall, replacing an Xpelair units that had failed after 12 years. . Electrically there are 3 connections L (live), L1 (switched input) and N (Neutral). There are two control options (you can have both). First is using the humidistat which switches the fan on between a selectable 60% & 90% RH and uses that timer for run on, once humidity is below the set point. The second requires L1, the switched input. You can run an input from a light (going on) or a switch (connect L to L1 through the switch) so that the fans stays on when L1 is live (e.g you switch the bathroom lights on) and runs on the timer after L1 switches off. Mine performed as expected. A level of understanding of installing mains electrical equipment is required.

El aparato fue fácil de instalar y cumplía correctamente con su función: algo más silencioso habría sido genial, pero era soportable. A las dos semanas de instalarlo el sensor de humedad dejó de funcionar y el extractor no se paraba nunca. Al final lo devolví.

Impossible à régler. Et même en marche continue inefficace pour une salle de bain de 7m2. Ne sert à rien. Debit ridicule.
