Honestly, there’s only one thing about Purigen that really irks me, and it’s the sheer amount of particulate matter you have to rinse and shake out of the damn bag before it’s ready to go into a filter without seeing little tiny resin balls/pieces explode from the outflow.Aside from that, this stuff is amazing at removing organic waste from the tank. It even removes tannins from tanks with driftwood still leaching into the water! As long as the resin hasn’t been exhausted, which is VERY easy to tell by its color, it will continue to work wonders in absorbing all the nasty stuff that all those lovable little swimming biological dumpsters are excreting constantly. One of my favorite parts is how easy it is to recharge, as well! A small part of bleach to mostly water, a bit of agitation, and a little time, and the stuff is back to looking brand new and ready to do the same great job it did the first round of absorbing stuff. Just - and I really can’t stress this enough - BE SURE that you give it ample time and agitation in water with dechlorinator after recharging it. I haven’t made the mistake of forgetting that last step, thank god, but if you do, that small part of bleach may wreak havoc on your tank’s inhabitants. I’d say a healthy dose of Prime might help there, but it’s best that prime works in a jar, cup or bowl with the purigen before it is returned to service in the filter. :)

I have been using this product for a few months and it STILL impresses me. I was having trouble keeping my 3.5 gallon seamless glass tank crystal clear. It was clean, but I needed better. I did some research and found this product and thought I would give it a try because just carbon was not cutting it. I did a little engineering to make the product work for my tank and (tiny) under gravel filtration system (explained below) and it has BLOWN MY MIND. My tank is on my desk at work and it looks like the fish are floating. I get compliments on it often!How I used this product in my UGF:The UGF I used is the Top Fin under gravel filter system that comes with carbon cartridges that attach to the uptake tubing (not sold on Amazon). I emptied the carbon out of the cartridges, and because the bags of Purigen are too large for the tiny cartridges, I bought heat sealing tea bags (link below). I filled the tiny tea bags with the Purigen, sealed them with my iron, and use them in the cartridges in place of the carbon. They last about about 3 weeks. I then clean them according to the instructions, and reuse them. I hide the uptake tube and cartridge behind some large pieces of slate I use to decorate with that I bought at my local pet store, and it looks like I have no filter in my tank at all! This has really helped keep my white algae under control but they could only be used just a few times (then bleached each week) before they wouldn't come clean - which makes them a little pricey. So I purchased my own mesh bags and a large cannister of the stuff so I can make them myself. They are worth it as a good filtration media - I'm converting all my HOB filers to cannister filters and plan to add bags of this to the canister filter. Not sure if they are saltwater safe so I won't include it in that tank until I'm sure. Nice stuff.

I used 2 packets of the purigen in my aqua top CF500 on my 110T and I’ve never seen the water in my tank this clear, even with driftwood in the tank there’s no more yellow tinge to the water from the tannins. Make sure you know the flow of your filter and have the purigen set as the last thing the water contacts in the filter before returning to the tank. In my style of filter this means placing it in the top rack of the filter canister. I have a coarse pad with a fine pad on top and bio balls in the first tray, another fine pad and ceramic rings in the second tray, another fine pad and a large bag of carbon and zeolite in the third tray and a fine pad and an ultra fine 50 micron pad on top of that then the two packets of purigen.

I cannot tell you how grateful I am for this product. I put the bag in and within around 20-30 minutes, my nitrite level went from a 4 to a 0! My babies were suffering and this product saved them. It did not do anything for the ammonia levels for me so I purchased Seachem Amguard and that did help with ammonia without changing the PH.I actually had an issue with one of my bags that had a small hole in the seam and when I told the company, they were so nice to send me a replacement bag. That is great customer service so I started looking into other products from this brand. These are good products to have on hand in case of emergency because if the shipping had been even 1 more day, I would have started losing them. I even went to my local Pet Smart who told me they no longer carry any of the Seachem products so I was very panicked. Luckily this item came later that day. Amazon ships fast but in the future, I am going to keep extra things on hand.

Good product shame about the delivery.Delivery was earlier than stated and as I was not at home the parcel was left on the communal area staircase.Although status said delivered to the resident.

Brilliant. Had tanning in my tank. I leave them in my external filter and the best thing is they can be activated and used again.

Put this in your filter with a carbon pad on top. For glass like quality water
