**Q: Is the bib painted on the stautue or is it removable?**
A: It is not paint, it is cloth, but it might as well be paint because it it set into the stone.  Definitely not removable.  In Japan the Jizos all have bibs, and often hats, lovingly crafted for them by the neighborhood grannies.  Jizo is like a saint, the guardian of unborn souls, protector of children and travelers.  In his role as a protector of children, he wears a red bib, like the children of ancient Japan.

A: The height is 5 inches

**Q: I was told by a friend this Buddha represents a miscarriage. Is that correct?**
A: These are set out in Japanese culture as memorials for a miscarried,aborted or infant death. The bibs are often used on them. I learned of these from an article in World Magazine.

**Q: What does the bib mean?   And the bib colors?**
A: The red indicates in memory of a baby,miscarried or aborted.
